Whoopie and Danny was one of the main characters in the film Oprah had the funding! Oprah is not for the colored community. She is a very smart woman she knows and knew how to get the ratings and what audience would accept her to get her where she is! BUT, it is Oprah who has really carried the torch/legacy of the brilliant work of Alice Walker for the past thirty years. I don't think anyone diminishes Whoopi's contribution to the cinematic universe, especially when it comes to "The Color Purple."

I just watched the movie today and it is Outstanding. All did an exemplary job in making this movie fulfill its goal in bringing a Phenomenal project to the masses. I must watch this movie again! Oprah your role of Sofia is so iconic that I was waiting to see if Danielle would do the justice. She passed my test with flying colors. The singing is beyond amazing. I can’t wait to get a copy of the music scores. Simply amazing.

I seen last Wednesday and I have to say they did great there was kids like me but they were younger then me so I really got what they was trying to tell us and I was the only kid who really liked it I loved the song,dancing and singing they are blessed with their talents that god gave them and he has big plans for all of them.

Some PEOPLE and opportunities are JUST priceless! I don't think that Oprah Whoopie Tijani and Fantasia knows what it means to so many PEOPLE to see them on screen regardless of MONEY how they put their talents heart and SOUL into THIS. This brings tears to my eyes BECAUSE this is such a BEAUTIFUL thing. If I was a Billionaire I would GIVE them ALL a blank check. Just as other things that I have done in my LIFE I would consider a 🎁 THIS movie talent HEART and performances an Endless 🎁 gift.

I wouldn't take my daughter to see a story mostly built upon homosexuality,two woman having sexual desires with oneanother on screen but to each it's own.

The star of The Color Purple was Whoopi. I have to say that is what's missing in my opinion. Fantasia should realize she's playing Whoopi's part not Oprah's. In my opinion that is the part she will never get as the person who played Oprah's part. It's like Whoopi didn't exist in the play. It seems that none of them were permitted to even mention Whoopi's name. What a dishonor to Whoopi. It will always be the elephant in the room. Do they realize without Whoopi there wouldn't be The Color Purple as we know it. I think the actors will be great, I just hope people don't hold it against the show or actors.

I always try to do it in a respectful manner. I watched The View when The Color Purple casts was on the show. When it was mentioned that Oprah was on the show I had to go back and watch it, because I didn't think she was on the show. The only mention of Whoopi's name with The Color Purple movie was on The View that day. I started reading later that something happened. IDK if true. I can say, that I never heard the people heading the Movie or any of the cast mention Whoopi's name once until The View. Maybe, Whoopi didn't want to take part, but for not acknowledging her by name I thought was strange an disrespectful when she was the star. I have to say The Original and the Movie are great beautiful actors. I just wish they were all respected by the industry, because I know they will always have our respect.. I truly enjoyed The View when they did honor and and gave her flowers. I know that made all of them all feel great. I am so exhausted so I tend to talk too much. I really don't want to disrespect anybody, I was just voicing my opinion. God Bless all of you that's reading long comment lol.

The color purple is remastered with messages on today. The story is still relatable, however it takes an open mind to see it.

The lack of mentioning I've seen of the original movie and those actors is crumbling to me. They didn't even get Alice Walker involved and she's not dead yet.

I saw the original and then this one and I could not wait to see Taraji! Well when I saw the first one wow Whopi was so awsome and beautiful. I loved Oprah and the whole cast. I cried even today after seeing it more then 10 times before. The new one was also so awsome! I was dissapointed because i thought taraji was not going to sing the sister song but when she did I was as impressed as her entrence in that red dress. She was it for me!!! The whole cast put a mark on my heart!

Ok, I saw The Color Purple- musical yesterday and I loved it. Taraji, Fantasia and Danielle were phenomenal as well as men. The music and dance were also outstanding (Taraji has a beautiful voice). Basically, the movie was a hit. No one has mentioned the beautiful quilt shown at the end. Quilting is so much a part of African-American history as it tells a story. In terms of imagination, the only thing that I really recognized was the scene between Taraji and Fantasia in the theater - that was beautiful. What I would have liked to see more of is the presence of the original cast in roles such as Margaret Avery playing the role that Tamala Mann played- church lady and Danny Glover playing his father. What i really disliked was all of the conflict regarding pay, transportation, food and trailers. These issues should have been resolved prior to the beginning of filming which would have allowed the actors to really concentrate on the performance. My take away: Have faith, God has you.
