Idk about “to tough for his own good” he just wasn’t bulletproof. In my late teens to mid 20’s in the streets I never left the house without my Vest. Blessed to survive and change my ways which came from age and few pen bids. Now the only Vest I need and wear is the one I put on when I go make sure my guys on site are actually on site.
