This series is extremely helpful. Your presentation is very well thought out, concise, and logically arranged. In addition, your diction is excellent. Your presentation is easy to understand. Thank you for all of your very hard work to offer this resource to the rest of us. Blessings, mike
Brenda, so far I’ve viewed 5 of your PhotoPills tutorials and while there’s a good amount of information to learn you’ve made it very simple to understand and apply. You’re a tremendous asset to photographers. I’m grateful I found your channel & look forward to the rest of the tutorial.
These Friday tutorials on PhotoPills just keep getting better and better Brenda. Thanks so much in helping to demystify this great App. Be safe. Look fwd to next week's. 👍
I subscribed to your YT channel, your newsletter and followed you on IG as well. Looking for inspiration to improve my amateur photography skill. Nature photography is my therapy.
Came back for a refresher on the FOV tool for an upcoming Milky Way shoot in Death Valley. So appreciate the clear and concise explanation and demonstrations! PP's can be a little overwhelming to learn because it's so feature rich, your videos make it much easier to learn and put into practice. Thank you!
With so many PhotoPills features😥 is good to have these explanations 😀 Thanks for your insight ! I'm looking forward to the next depth of field episode.
Brenda you knocked out of the park again. You're the best. I've planned some full moonset shoots at the Naples, Florida pier for the end of October and instead on schlepping my 6 pound 200-500mm lens I'm going to take my fantastic Nikkor f2.8 70-200mm lens. Keep up the great tutorials.
So glad to hear that! And thanks for asking about my foot. It's starting to feel better! I'm not going to be hiking for a while, but I discovered that it doesn't hurt to bike, so at least I can get some exercise that way.
Thank you, your videos have been excellent. I wanted to love the app, but I couldn't understand quite well a lot of things, and the "official" tutorials are completely awful, not because of the content, but because of the way Rafa speaks, the creator of the app. I also speak spanish, and it's really incredible, not in spanish or englisn is understandable hahaha.
Great videos! Simple, easy explanations. I only have one question, why does everyone only seem to use photopills for moon or night shooting? I'd like to see planning for sunrise/sunset as well. Also, would be cool to see the actual image at the end of your plan video.
Hi Patty - when you click the link a zip file should download. If you unzip it, it will be a kmz file. If you email yourself the file and open the email on your phone, you should be able to open the file with PhotoPills and import it as a plan or POI. Hope that works!
You are a brilliant teacher Brenda. So clear! Thank you. I live close to hills and the real horizon is often not visible because of a neighbouring hill. Can I use the red and black pins to work out when the sun (and effective golden hour) is visible at a spot within the hills?
Thanks, Kirk! I'm actually not sure when the FOV map tool feature came out, but it's helpful to use when you're planning an image and want to see it on the map. The FOV calculator gives a lot of the same info, and also has the AR feature, which is nice if you're on location.
Hi Steve - I didn't show the hyperfocal distance on the Planner in this video. When using the FOV map tool, the red line indicates the focus distance. If you set that to be locked on the black pin, the red line will intersect the black pin. However, if you set it to a custom distance, which *could* be the hyperfocal distance, then the red line will be at that distance. Does that answer your question?
There is a lot packed into the app, so I think you get a lot of functionality for the cost, but it's not for everyone. You certainly don't need it to take great photos.

Your PhotoPills videos are excellent - love your clarity of explanation, which only comes when you truly understand your subject.
Much appreciated, Sue!
Excellent... Very well explained. Looking forward to trying it out... 👍😉
Fantastic teacher. I love this. Nice work. You have put lot into these tutorials. Thank you.
This series is an outstanding source of information for PhotoPills - thank you for creating and sharing these videos!

Your explanations are a gift. I just bought Photopills and there is no way I'd unlock it's amazing potential without you. Thank you.
Happy to help! :)
Another great lesson, Brenda. Much appreciated. All in all, Photo Pills is a pretty amazing app. Stay safe in these trying times!
You as well! Thanks!
Super helpful! I am planning a moonrise suit tonight and needed to see this info. Thank you.

Excellent! So glad you'll be able to save on weight and space with this tip.
Another great explanation of the very useful tool.
Brenda, thanks for presenting this in such a clear and understandable way. This series is SO helpful! How is your foot doing these days?
So glad to hear that! And thanks for asking about my foot. It's starting to feel better! I'm not going to be hiking for a while, but I discovered that it doesn't hurt to bike, so at least I can get some exercise that way.
@@outdoorphotographyschool7366 Good to hear! Hopefully it warms up soon!
Thanks so much Brenda, I love the way you explain how to use this app that was always so difficult for me to use!
You are so welcome!
So well explained Brenda!
Excellent Brenda!
Well done on demystifying the powerful functionality of this awesome app.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
another great video and great explanation. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Germany Matze sends you. Stay healthy.
Thank you, Matze! I hope you are staying well too.
Great tutorial Brenda, extremely informative, thank you. Hope you are doing ok
Hey Scotty! Thanks! All is well here, thankfully (just have a busted foot at the moment, but otherwise healthy). Hope you are well too! Crazy times.

Thanks, Richard! Glad you are enjoying the videos. Some of them include sunrise/sunset tips as well.
I guess I need a lesson on how to download the plan! And how to get it into my Planner.

Outdoor Photography School with Brenda Petrella thank you! I’ll try it from my iPad, I can’t get it to work from my phone!

Awesome tutorial, Brenda! I know I've seen the FOV calculator before, but is the mapping feature of FOV new?
Thanks, Kirk! I'm actually not sure when the FOV map tool feature came out, but it's helpful to use when you're planning an image and want to see it on the map. The FOV calculator gives a lot of the same info, and also has the AR feature, which is nice if you're on location.
I went thru video 5 but can't figure out how to delete the plan for the Statue of Liberty.
My Samsung S8 says there's no app to open/extract the plan
How did you get the hyperfocal distance to show on your planner map?
