I have picked up cross stitch again since a break of 29 years. I am amazed at how much things have changed. As a knitter, and spinner I love variegated yarns so to have variegated floss is a dream come true.
I have been using my CC floss all wrong! Thanks for the informative video. I’m so tempted to try stitching in hand using the sewing method now. :)
I’ve just come back to doing cross stitch again with more years in between thot I’ll ever admit to, I’ve been looking looking for tips on actually making the thread itself, but you’ve given me the best look I’ve seen on how to actually use it. I can see my boxes filling up as I type.
Thank you for the demonstration and information regarding Fancy Floss! I am eager to try Classic Colorworks, Gentle Arts, and Weeks Dye Works. The depth and dimension was clearly evident on the finished projects!
I prefer fancy floss for most of my stitching. Love your videos and your fun shows.
So I recently ordered Autumn at Bunny Hill Manor and ordered the DMC floss for it. As I was checking out, I thought, "Might as well throw in a few of the called-for Weeks Works for fun..." I started stitching with the DMC, but came to a section for which I'd ordered the wrong DMC color, but I had the Weeks Works. So I tried it. That was it for me. I ordered the rest of the floss in Weeks Works and have been contemplating removing the black DMC I've already done for the onxy from Weeks Works because I SO prefer the look.
I just received my first order of fancy floss. I plan to try soon...have to get through my youngest's HS graduation then I might have some time to stitch! Can't wait and loved the tips for direction. I have tried stitching in hand and it is very freeing!

I just started using fancy floss. I think I may be a convert to individual Xs. I really think my stitches look cleaner. Love the POP of the variegation.
This is fantastic, learning about different cloths, threads w/ variegation, d e f i n i t e l y going to try it for the different effects stitching up and down, side-to-side, in a circle...one stitch at a time. Thanks Chelsea and Priscilla, love your projects. The use for DMC versus variegated depends on the pattern, for instance an apple w/ shading, might want to use DMC for the artist’s intended effect. They both serve a purpose. Look at you go Kimberly...off into the wild blue yonder of stitchery.

Great tips! I am just starting to use fancy floss. So far I am saving it for projects with big buildings, trees, etc., but I LOVE the way it looks!

Great video! Can you use loop method using variegated floss and one full cross. Or two strands?I am using week dye works color Kohl mono chromatic?
