I adopted my cat at 4 months old from the local Humane Society, and he was horribly addicted to kibble. They don't feed cats wet food that I'm aware of. He is now 8 months old and has transitioned to the freeze dried crunchy food as well as recently Raw food . . . finally! Transitioning is not an easy task but it can be done ... slowly and patiently.
Thanks for sharing your encouragement, sis!
@@jesscaticles You're welcome. My pleasure. 😉👌
Do you have any tips for my kibble addict kitten?
i got my kitten there too!
How long does it take and how can I portion it the right way?
I'm learning so much from you for my Main Coon, Carl. Also, I love your voice- you are so nice to listen to❤️
The freeze dry raw is what I’m using to transition my kibble fed kittens… I’m learning so much from your videos and so appreciate you’re covering so many price points and options available per store.
I'm glad my videos have been helpful! ♥️
Youre incredibly thorough and efficient with your reviews. Thanku so much!!
Aww thanks! So glad you like them!
The Instinct that you showed at the beginning the guy in Petco told me that's the only food in the entire store that he could look me in the eye and tell me it was actually good for my cats. We don't have that just food for cats
I recently added the dehydrated goats milk (i rehydrate it into a milk) to my cat's kibble and she loves it! I cant transition to full wet or raw yet (I'm a student in a shared house, I just dont have the space in my fridge or the money for now) but I'm happy I can atleast add some more benefits to her diet :)
Thank you for your research! I recently read that orijen and acana were bought by MARS brand .. and that this has changed the quality of the ingredients/ foods .. would love your updated take on them.. (keeping in mind that your recommendation is always going to be raw is best above all).
Thanks Jess!!
You got it!
yuca/cassava are two names for the same plant! so they still changed their recipe, but only once not twice
Thank you for the reminder!!
Tapioca starch is actually extracted from cassava/yuca root! So a little different but from the same source
I really wish orijen would make freeze dried raw cat food. My cats love their freeze dried treats which have no plant ingredients and I spend a ridiculous amount of $ on them to have them as toppers for my cats but hey it’s their world and I’m just living in it 😅 did you see they also have wet food now from orijen for cats at petco?
I've been giving my kittens Wellness Complete Health grain free Kitten dry food. is that good? or do you recommend some other dry food that I could buy from PetSmart since that's all we have here.
Hello! my cats are both 8 years old. Thanks to your videos ive been learning that the advice i was given about how to find good cat food wasnt quite right. Ive been feeding them dry food their whole lives and i was wondering if starting the transition now to eventually eating raw food is still okay? Because some vets have said that after a certain amount of years, too drastic of a diet change will just make them sick instead of helping. Is that the case for cats that are 8 years old now? Or should i still try and slowly transition them to better food?
The specific food ive been giving them is Rachel Rays, Instinct, and i think Wellness. Because the advice i was given was to look for the bags that had atleast 3 meats in them at the top of the ingredient list. Just for reference
A slow transition is necessary for all cats no matter what the age. Of course, every cat is individual, but you shouldn't have any issues. Just follow my plan here: czcams.com/video/tTV0FSxDE-w/video.html
Hi Did you tried it the Birdie & Louie
Pet Supplies
Pet Food Made Perfect did you think is good or not?
Thx you
I rarely use Petco, but another informative video.
Thanks for watching!
What about leaving a dry out at night and mainly wet food during the day when he eats the most
The mercury in tuna is very damaging to a cat's nervous system and neuro network;
The mercury cannot be expelled and thus accumulates quickly in their little bodies.
Edit:
I've been binge watching your videos and subscribed. You are clearly a loving and awesome cat mom 🥰🐈
Jess is the sole reason I transitioned my cat's diet to raw. I think she is awesome !!!
Can you do a review on Love Nala cat food?
Do Petsmart next!!!
I will try!
It says cod doesn't it on the package of the fresh cat food Jess?
What are your thoughts on sodium selenite?
If I did not have 6 cats - raw would be a good option and affordable. So, I need suggestions other than raw or freeze dried. DO you have any?
Petco has Orijen Duck and Chicken Entree in bone broth. There are no phosphates, fish or fish oil, listed in the ingredients. I am curious, why you didn't pick it for best wet food. Colbie can be sensitive to fish, so I have to watch what I give her.
Thank you for this info. My senior cat will get a blood test next week due to weight loss and throwing up food. The food research continues…
On a dmb, Orijen actually has a very high phosphorus number. The calcium to phosphorous ratio isn’t too bad though. I feed my cat Orijen wet food, but whomever commented below, I’d stay clear of it for your senior kitty. You’d want low phosphorus food for them.
@@Red84Fox Orijen is on the high side in phosphorous and calcium, but within AAFCO guidelines, for what that is worth. My two cats are mostly eating a raw diet now. Slow but sure.
My cats will not eat freeze dried raw. I try sneaking the tiniest bit into their canned food after failed attempts at feeding it to them alone and they won’t even touch the canned food if it’s in there. They hate it and will give me dirty looks and walk away with their ears back after smelling it. They know it’s in there.
What about Whole Foods? Any recommendations?
I've never been to whole foods but I can look online!
Just food for Cats is suppose to come out with a bunch of new cat food next year. Also, I heard that they hand mix there product, no machines and they listen to there customers maybe that’s why they changed recipe.
It could be! They make their food in open kitchens which is great. So I def think the pros outweigh the cons. I did see a comment on their website that said they were working on more cat flavors. Fingers crossed!
@@jesscaticles That would be great. One of my two cats is allergic to chicken which makes the transition to raw, all the more challenging.
