    Lee,
    By neck radius I believe EBMM is referring to the curvature of the fingerboard itself. What you are referring to (shape of the back of the neck) is the neck profile. I confused the 2 for years and made a few bungled purchased based on that misunderstanding, LOL!
    Your absolutely correct that the neck profile has changed. My hands are on the smaller end of the spectrum and I really struggled to play the pre 2018 Stingrays. This new model is soooo much easier to play all over the neck.
    I'm a long time watcher from the States. Love what you all do man! Keep it up :-)

    Musicman make some of the best mass produced guitars and basses on the planet, but my word the prices (probably due to rubbish ÂŁ and ridiculous tax etc) have shot up by ÂŁ1000 over 2-3 years. I realise these are upgraded...but unfortunately out of reach for a younger player now.

    Hey guys! I think it would be really helpful for you to make a video which demos bass amps by speaker size. I've just been turned on to how vastly different a 10" sounds from a 12"... I'm sure a lot of other bassists as well as myself would like to hone in their preferences between the two or three different sized speakers we are usually choosing from.

    • @CNick75
      @CNick75 Pƙed 5 lety

      The speaker size doesn't matter nearly as much as you think. Enclosure construction, magnet material, crossover, etc has a lot more to do with it.

    • @NRG2
      @NRG2 Pƙed 5 lety

      @@CNick75 most people seem to think there is definitely a difference between 10s, 12s and 15s. Goes without saying that the materials are huge. But seems that all the pros definitely consider the size of the speakers in different cabs to achieve different sounds...

    • @NRG2
      @NRG2 Pƙed 5 lety

    • @CNick75
      @CNick75 Pƙed 5 lety

      @@NRG2 Not at all trolling. Do some research. Talkbass has a ton of threads on it. Look for comments by people who actually build cabs. The old BS about 10s being tighter and 15s going deeper is just that, BS. The construction of the enclosure, the baffling, the crossover, the material the driver is constructed of, how the cabinet is voiced by the designer have much more to do with the sound than a simple diameter measurement. "All the pros" don't agree on anything, much less this. If bass cabinet design was simply an exercise in speaker size then we wouldn't have much to talk about, would we?

    All I can say is, I'm extremely disappointed with the Special SR5 HH in vintage tobbaco with maple fretboard. I don't know what I';m doing wrong or what;s wrong with it aside from the much needed initial setup:
    - The headphones I'm using or amps
    - It came with super slinkys(125-40), never used them and I hate them, I prefer regular slinkys(130-45). I'll change them today to see if there's any difference
    Aside from the 1ft position, bridge humbucker tone which doesn;t have the same punch as classic stingrays, it plays nice, the rest of the positions, bleh. Don;t know if I'm used to much to the Jazz tone among other tones, but man.. soo bummed out.

      Alien Crocodile imo it allows MM to accentuate certain frequencies to give it a specific character. Most significantly, they have a baked in HPF that keeps the low end tight and out of the way of where a bass drum would sit. On a 2 band eq, the treble and bass controls don’t really change the core tone that much - the treble adds very high frequencies to give you a top end presence and a bit of a zing to finger style, and the bass knob just adds low end. But both don’t change that dominant low-mid sound. You can just fine tune the beef or the zing... there’s still a place for your amp EQ

    Isn't a 4-string bass just a large ukulele?

    Is it just me, or does anyone else think these look like basses make out of toilet lids? LOL

      I've always seen it that way. Absolute shame, cause they're lovely sounding basses.

      They sounded good in this video, but then that boy could make a washtub bass sound good, plus there's no way of knowing how much post production sound tweaking went on. It doesn't matter either way as I'd never buy a bass of this type. I need 6 or 7 strings, at least 24 frets and neck through. An ebony fingerboard is nice too, but not a deal breaker if it's rosewood.

      I think they look cool, they have a very recognizable look. It's the oval pickguard you probably don't like, and at first I didn't like it either (I only liked the Fender look), but now I dig it. Most other basses don't do anything for me looks wise. They sound great too, I've been playing one for years now, but I'm selling it because it's 9.9 lbs. Even though I was seriously considering getting a new one (lighter weight and all), I think I'll grab a Fender Professional Jazz instead. I think I dig the classic passive Fender tone more.

      Can't get more recognizable than a toilet lid.
