Having been on a bit of a “Baba Binge” over the last few days, I must say, this is one of the best renditions I have enjoyed. The slightly slower tempo allows for real deliberation on the pronunciation making the vocals much more impressive. The fact these Boys are all at school, and not professionally trained vocalists deserves even more praise. A great performance.
My favourite performance of Baba Yetu on CZcams. The best version of a prayer turned to song -- slowly with feeling. Pure sounds of young men's voices accompanied by only a few instruments. Wonderful.
Swahili and a lot of Polynesian languages sound a lot alike, so a choir based in a polynesian city are likely to pick up many of the subtle differences between the proper words and the mistakes Western choirs make.
Yes, it is Swahili, but this African language became universal all throughout Africa because it was used by the Arab and Southeast Asian Merchants who traded with the shoreline Africans using Kenya as their initial base in trading. That is why Swahili has so many Arab and native Southeast Asian loan words. The languages in Southeast Asia, on the other hand, are highly influenced by the Polynesian languages of the Pacific.
Joseph A. Hancharik The choir itself is full of Polynesian boys and boys most likely having grown up around polynesians and learning Maori (another Polynesian language) so pronunciation may have come a little more naturally.
Judging that I am still at this school St Pat's. Yes the Polynesians found it easier to learn because yes it kinda sounds similar but only like 5% of it tbh so it wasnt that much of a help
Baba wetu uliye Mbinguni jina lako litukuzwe MAPENZI yako ya timizwe hapa DUNIANI kama MBINGUNI, tupe daima chakula chetu tunacho hitaji kila siku, Tusamehe makosa yetu kama nasi tunavyowasamehe wanaotukosea, Great jobs my God pleases you guys,
this is sung in Swahili, which is an East Africa language mostly spoken in Kenya and Tanzania. the Maori language is spoken by the native people of New Zealand.
Very nice performance although a bit bottom heavy and light on tenor at times. I absolutely LOVED the way the soloist had that extra lilt and inflection on his second "Baba yetu.." at 0:21 !! The vocal technique and maturity will come with time, but that showed that little extra something that can only come from the heart.

The pronunciation is impaccable. As a native Swahili speaker, I am impressed.

Awesome good work....praise the name of the living God Lord Almighty creator of heaven and earth
Swahili is such a beautiful language! First time i heard this. I cried and then smiled.
Initially I thought they were about to give me a haka maori but then they just blew my mind with the most beautiful serenade of Baba Yetu.
first choir to pronounce the words right! THANK YOU!!!!

Polynesian? It is Swahili...

Fabulous. I especially like the random close up on a young lady’s bruise....

this is sung in Swahili, which is an East Africa language mostly spoken in Kenya and Tanzania. the Maori language is spoken by the native people of New Zealand.
Tiến Huỳnh Phước you have told me nothing I don't already know... I was commenting on the people in partiular
I was told that Swahili is spoken all throughout the African Continent.
More or less ...
You do realize only around one or two Maori guys were singing.
Their pronunciation is on point.
With thisChoir ;we can learn easily this Song

I am doing this for my 7th grade choir… I have to do the solo and I have no idea how I am supposed to learn this in a month
Very nice performance although a bit bottom heavy and light on tenor at times. I absolutely LOVED the way the soloist had that extra lilt and inflection on his second "Baba yetu.." at 0:21 !! Ik it, the Milele part is high for my tenor solo as well. Great job tho!
Playback at 1.25x speed improves the labored tempo, IMO.
speed 1.25
Good advice
Thanks
Are you sure they are not from tz or kenya.
100% Aoteoroan pride in this one.
1:00 the way he almost goes inaudible for that high note🤣
