Today's video went a bit sideways so Jake and Linus ditched the office and setup the ultimate wife-approved surround theatre setup in the family room of his new house, with the help of Sony's new QD-OLED A95K.

How the heck do you become a LEGO employee
That was my dream as a kid, but I slowly grew out of it in my teens as I started to realize that that could never actually happen

I definitely recommend not having your subwoofer in a cabinet like that. It will make the subwoofer VERY boomy and cause tons of reverberations in the cabinet which will result in drowned out bass that stays around too long so it won't sound as good as if the sub was out in the room hidden somewhere. Subwoofers spread to the walls of whatever room they are in generally, and when the sound (pressure changes) reach the walls and corners, they legitimately get trapped there. Long story short, if you want proof: plug in your subwoofer and go to the middle of the room and listen, then go to the corner and listen. You will hear a LOT of bass that resonates too long when close to walls or corners. We actually use bass traps to counter this because its so difficult. These are just large puffy things that absorb lots of bass tones at the corners so they don't reflect. In your situation, that wouldn't help though since the subwoofer is already in a cabinet with walls so close to it (and not to mention there are thin walls to a large recess behind the TV which will create more reverb behind the TV so your big explosions and stuff wont sound as real since bass travels through thin surfaces easily). Obviously that might not have the WAF (wife approval factor) but might end up sounding worlds better outside the cabinet.
Ain't the cabinet for the sub kinda have modified door?
He said "the sub has to come out" around 14:37
You somewhat said it yourself: In an environment like this the WAF is the most important aspect. Everything else is almost optional.
As someone that used to install TV's and HiFi for over 7 years, I totally agree. But while doing said job, I would explain reasons for a different Sub/Speaker location but some people care more about aesthetics. You have to decide as the owner, whether you want the setup to aesthetically look good or sacrifice those aesthetics a little bit for clearer sound quality. One other tip for those with a room similar to the one shown here. If you have a lot of windows in the room. Get thick curtains and close them when using a HiFi system. Will greatly improve the overall sound quality. sound hitting large areas of glass such as big windows greatly effects the sound quality. Should also do this during the configuration of the audio setup as well. You'll get better overall results

Little tip on the katana 12:00, you should always put your katana with your handle facing the left side (it’s a traditional thing which when your katana handle is on the right side it means you are in war and ready to pull the katana any second which if you are not in war it means disrespect and threat to others.) and also the blade facing upward so it doesn’t rest on the saya (the cover of the blade) and damage the blade :)
Edit: 69 les go
Edit again lol: Idk why Yt keeps deleting my comment so imma just put it here for Max C that think my comment is completely wrong.
Yours aren’t completely wrong, but they don’t use that method to create the curvature out of no where. Early katana was straight, but due to the fact that straight katana tends to get stuck in object while swinging and also it’s very hard to pullout from the saya due to its long length, they made it curved using the method you mentioned. And it is absolutely related to combat effectiveness, you don’t want your katana getting stuck in enemies body or just struggling to pull your katana out when you are in a fight. Search it up.
Katanas are so neat, and have tons of great history and info. 🙂
you really expect linus to go to war with a fucking toy sword?

I recently purchased the 77” Sony OLED and honestly have never thought to myself “this thing is too dim”. And yes, it is a room with two large bay windows and lots of light. I honestly find myself turning the brightness down because the contrast between light and dark can be very very harsh…. Launching cyberpunk (yellow launch screen) at night is a serious slap if your not expecting it.
Well, to be honest: At night, even my 65" OLED that is 5 years old now is bright enough to give you a slap. But: For HDR to work properly it's _just_ bright enough in a very dark room. As soon as the room gets a bit of light, HDR loses its luster pretty fast. Then again, as I said, my OLED is pretty old by now. I assume current models would be a fair bit brighter.
That said, I just don't want to pay $4000 for a 65" TV, so I'll wait a few years, but the next TV upgrade will probably be QD-OLED, unless something else comes along. "Too bright" is easy to fix, after all.
i wish Light senors that actually work we're more common. A well set up night mode (controlled by the sensor) that still delivers good contrast is probably my most important feature. More important than peak brightness even
Linus is genius. While making videos on the setup of his house, it drives revenue from this channel and makes all the equipment he installs a business expense. Plus its like a tech nerds fantasy of everything you could want in a house with current and cutting edge technology.
@Noureldin Ali but if it wasnt for the business he would have never bought that item theoreticly, so it is 100% a business expense.
@Noureldin Ali once he continues doing vids in his house for a couple years with the equipment appearing in the scene with him it's considered a business expense.

The timing on that glass drop was so perfect, you'd think it was scripted
They only had to trick Linus into painting that frame. The rest is out of their hands, but inevitable.........
If it was scripted they could have used the glass they use for film and TV, and have it actually smash, but not telling him they had made the switch.
@@bionicgeekgrrl that would've been hilarious to see XD
You wont believe it but I read this comment exactly the moment the glass dropped. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!
You dropping hints?
I’m shocked when he said “I need a screwdriver” that they didn’t transition into a plug for the LTT screwdriver. Linus! I’m disappointed in you!
When mounting the TV, being level is largely irrelevant. Being parallel to the nearest reference line will make it "look right." Instead of leveling the mount, you should have just measured up from the bottom edge of the cabinet recess for the entire span.
I feel like Linus has endless family rooms and each one has a different setup and he just makes new setups everytime he gets bored or run out of video ideas.
İşin güzel kısmı: en iyi serilerden :)
Yeah, like if I was a kid in there, I wouldn't know which room to chill in. I grew up in a big house, extended family - we had two 'family rooms', 4 TVs and one desktop PC plus multiple laptops throughout the house. I can count on one hand how many times a third family room or a second desktop PC would've been useful. And Linus has like six PCs/consoles and 3-4 rooms for the family to hang out (though not as many TVs)
The fact is that you are not getting it. He makes technology content for enthusiast, and this is just what it is, new equipment, new solutions, new content.
There is another fact, he shows you technology that you'll probably want to sneak peek before purchasing it, i dont think that you have the money to spend on "a try" and get another equipment.
This is not a sitcom series my love.
Cheers.

The "right" way to display the sword is actually with the edge facing up (so it doesn't dull the blade over time) and the handle towards the left (if you display it with the handle to the right it means it's ready for you to use at any time and might insinuate disrespect towards your guests. It's acceptable in war times tho). Ofc it doesn't really matter that much as it is only a display piece, just wanted to give some fun facts about it

proper way to place a katana:
hilt on the left
blade facing up
the hilt being on the left makes the katana harder to pull out and therefore is more welcoming while the hilt being on the right means that you are ready to take it out anytime. The hilt being on the right is okay to have during times of war but since there's no war happening, it's a bit more threatening.
the blade facing down can damage the blade over time because the blade edge is going to rest against the scabbard.
What do you do when the homeowner is left handed?
Ah yes, because he's afraid someone might mistake him for being at war.... in fucking CANADA. I also don't know how that's threatening when the last time the Japanese "threatened" people, they were fucking nuked to submission (an act that's SHAMEFUL to the Japanese culture.. they NEVER submit, only die for their cause).

Aside from the price, OLED's scare the shit out of me due to their lack of thickness. When it's *that* thin, I'd rather they add some artificial thickness to give it some structure lol.
The LG OLEDs weirdly are thick for like 65% of the thing and then it's just a very thin panel. Why they don't make the whole thing uniformly the same thickness IDK
@@Powerman293 they do for the G line, but it's really best used for wall mounting so..
This is the problem I had when getting the LG C1 recently, it only had a hump at the bottom and then the top half was just the thin panel. Felt scary moving it around before putting it on the wall. And also another problem with this is that the VESA mounting holes weren't central to the TV so I had to actually redrill holes for my mounting bracket and move it further down on the wall
How the fuck are you even able to break a TV by moving it? just be more carefull..? i love the fact they are so thin
@@mepik15 well I am talking about when you get it out the box, I had the TV in the polystyrene at the bottom and then when we was just moving it around to get in the right place before lifting onto the bracket it just felt fragile. And also my bracket is one of those where I can bring the TV further off the wall and it doesn't feel safe moving it because the panel is unsupported on all sides
As a pro installer I've learned that with any articulating mount, you ALWAYS want to drill your holes about half an inch above your measured mark. ALWAYS.

Hey Linus! You displayed your katana in a bad way: you should put the katana with the handle on the left side (because putting it on the right side means that you don't trust your guests). Also, I couldn't tell if the blade was facing down or up, but you should put it facing up for preventing damaging the blade.
You should really replace those blurry windows with a win XP wallpaper or something

tip if you wanna be more accurate with your sword, try having it on display with the handle pointing to the left, with the blade pointing up. this is done because the handle pointing to the right is easier for right-handed samurai to ready the weapon for conflict during times of war. pointing the handle to the left is a show of peace.
as for the blade pointing up, it's to keep the blade from touching the inside of the scabbard.
cool that even Linus has a weeby sword
1:35 I know there probably won’t be too many more house videos, but I think it would be cool to put up some kind of pull down green screen over the windows and overlay Halo gameplay outside or something
Have the hilt of the sword go to the left so that you aren't saying "I'm going to kill you" (hilt to the right means that there is a threat somewhere. Hilt to the left means "welcome" and it also is a sign of respect)
Let's be honest, he absolutely going to kill us
@@battledroidb-121 that's Andy's job
if nobody knows that it means something then it doesn't mean anything
I mean if your not welcome in his home. Then it is a threat
I'm so glad Linus and Jake are happy in their home together. I also hope their Lodger Yvonne is happy too.
I do not envy the editors having to blur out every potentially location-giveaway window or reflection. On the up side, it does make it feel a bit like Linus lives and a smudgey tech-void of his own imagination. :P
I almost don't want Linus to finish his home these videos are way too good.
I wasn’t very fond of these house vids at the start. Now they’ve really grown on me. I’m enjoying seeing it all come together.
The LEGO plants are amazing.
I get so many sound drops from that sound system. Drives me crazy. But when it works, it's pretty great. Great vid.
For a house with a theater set up in every living room, The set up looks great.
It would be kinda neat if they put green screens over the windows when they film. Instead of bluring it. They can make it a different yard. Probably a dumb idea.
Or just put linus faces on there
@@ryukatana03 or the surface of the Sun, to amplify the feeling of natural light coming in the room.
the room ended up looking very nice, I do like the lego flowers and the painting does go well with the sword
3:26 I taught they were gonna show how the linus tech tips screwdriver was for more than just px building but it was a garage
0:58 thank you Linus. 5-8 year old me would've been screaming bloody murder if you hadn't done that! xD
