  • Supercharged the Miata! Still not 100 percent done, but it does drive! Fingers crossed it doesn't end up being problematic 🤞

I can tell it is zippier just from watching. Looks like the perfect amount of added power. Resembling what the Mazdaspeed represented, just a slight uptick in power, nothing too wild. Remember, don't downplay 30 extra horsepower when that's 33% the car had originally!

Instant power, lovely supercharger whine and the ability to break out from 3000 rpm because of the low end power

Its not necessarily the HP gain that is of concern with a supercharger but the “torque”. That responsive torque is where all the fun is at 🔥

What a fun car to drive regardless of the power. Been in so many hairy B road situations that I’ve lost count over the 4 years of ownership. So happy to see someone do supercharger build this recently.I would love to do this build. I just got my 1.6L back after it needed a new coil pack and cam angle sensor just to get it running again. UNDER 💯 hrspwrs club is a legit thing?!?

I had a lot of trouble setting up the timing on a turbo 1.6 I built. Turns out the glue that bonded the harmonic balancer together failed and and it had spun. Apparently a very common issue on NA miatas. Impossible to time up a car when the marks have shifted

Honestly, I don't think it's worth it, seeing what you went through to be slightly better than the 1.8. Still an improvement if you don't want that much power but a cool sounding engine I guess. This video will help people make a decision too, so nice job.

With an intercooler, some rx7 injectors and standalone ecu/tune this car can be making close to double the stock power.

I like have US (oil country) has like 83 and 93 or whatever and in Finland (not a oil country) we have 95 as the worst fuel you can buy in the whole country and 98 as the premium. Or nowadays e5 and e10 I dont know if the numbers here stand for the same thing as there.
But then again we also pay 2€/liter for the non premium (7.95 dollars/gallon)

    • @Gerle71
      @Gerle71 Před rokem +1

      Common misconception.
Gasoline quality is measured experimentally but using different tests. Depending on the test that is done to control fuel quality, we get
Research Octane Number (RON) , used in Europe and most of the world
      Motor Octane Number (MON)
Because two different tests define RON and MON, with MON testing done under more difficult conditions, MON number is always lower than RON.
In Europe, gas stations describe different types of gasoline based on their RON rating. It is typical to have 100, 99, 98, 97 or 95 RON with prices varying accordingly. In the States the descriptions look a lot like RON, but they are not.
In the United States gas stations describe the types of gasoline based on the Pump Octane Number (PON). That number is the average between RON and MON. This causes many problems.
If a fuel is 98 RON then it will be 93 PON -> 93 PUMP
If a fuel is 95 RON and 87 MON then it will be 91 PON -> 91 PUMP

@@thomaslindroos1667 I was surprised when I first moved to the US, the octane numbers seemed low, so I had to look up what was going on. I'm sure there's more to it than what I posted above, but I think as a quick explanation it probably isn't too wrong. Until you get that thing properly tuned and remapped, you're never going to have it at it's optimum. 200hp in a Miata is excessive. 150hp would be perfect for the road.
