  • Well the title is a mouthful but it's says it all. In this video I apply the second part of the Lizardskin package, the thermal coat.
    Technically this is coat number 5 and 6. First there was two coats primer. Then two coats sound control and now two coats thermal insulation.
    I think it turned out pretty awesome.
    Stay tuned for the final video in this series. The top coat application which in my case is body color.
    Thanks for watching.

    Did you use primer on the van before spraying the Lizard skin on and if so what primer did you use and why did you choose it? I was going to use Por15 but read some bad reviews and that it isn't the best if you plan on topcoating, which I plan on using Lizard Skin. TIA

      I used a 2 part primer. The actual can and type are covered in the Video I did on Ospho and Painting plans. I did little research on it and just trusted the recommendation of the paint supply shop. I did not use Por15 at all. I used Ospho for what little rust I had. I felt converting it with Ospho and primering it was better than encapsulating is with Por15. czcams.com/video/a-8Bp0nIi_4/video.html

    Hi Keith, great series on the Lizard Skin products. I replaced my small foil plugs with screws based on your feedback. Great tip. I have a few questions for you. What was the final texture and hardness like after the ceramic insulation dried? I sprayed mine about 30 hours ago and it seems to mar easily. It doesn't scrap off, but every time I drag my finger nail across it a lighter shaded mark is left. At this point it doesn't seem very durable. Did you have the same experience? Also, I noticed that the insulation sprayed in smaller clumps and I had a harder time getting the proper thickness. I would say the insulation was drier in comparison to the sound deadener. Thanks, Ron

    Hello, what is the R value of one coat of ceramic Lizard skin? Two coats?

    Thoughts on using a paint brush or roller?
    Really don't want to have to buy a spray setup....

      I have no experience with hand application. You could always sell the gun on Ebay when done with it and recover some of your costs. I will be selling mine whenever I get the top done (the multiyear project continues),

    Great video! What gallon-size air compressor are you using?

    I’m curious as what topcoat you used

      I used a single stage auto paint the same color as the body. You can see the actual paint used in my other video "Ospho Put to the Test - Paint Plans".

      @@risingphoenixbronco5328 Thank you so much for the info sir. I just wasn’t sure if you use some kind of clearcoat topper with your paint or some kind of epoxy

    Is it waterproof and can you spray it over sound deadening sheets?????????¿

    • @risingphoenixbronco5328
      @risingphoenixbronco5328  Před 5 lety

      It is waterproof. I would not apply over sound deadening sheets. This would take the place of the sheets. I suppose you could apply the sheets over the top but don't think it would add value.

      I sprayed a product called U-Pol System 20 Primer Filler. In my video "Ospho Put to TEst - Paint Plans" at about 6:30 into it you can see the products used.

    No one ever shows a temperature test of this product...idk why not?

    • @risingphoenixbronco5328
      @risingphoenixbronco5328  Před 5 lety

      For me it is simply a matter of logistics and making the test scientific. Almost every test I see on CZcams people complain that you did or didn't do something that invalidates the test. I have no way to control the outside air temperature or the heat source to generate the higher heat. I'll just have to rely on Lizardskin that they sell a good product. Sorry.

      Rising Phoenix Bronco oh its a great video you made on it, I’m just curious about the insulation it provides. I’ve watched many videos of lizardskin and none talk about the insulation. You did give the most info on the product though. 👍🏻

    Great video, I am planning on doing that to my trans am. I live in Florida it will take a little longer to dry. I wouldn't worry about rust in Arizona where you live. Not even rust gets corroded out there.

      Luis you are correct we tend to have rust imported when the vehicles move to Arizona from Chicago. 50 years of being outside and I have a light patina to show for it.
