Stand-up comedian Shaden Fakih is BACK for a 2nd #sardeafterdinner that might ruffle some feathers. Shaden has always been relentless in her fight for justice but she’s also a fierce friend that always has our back as we have hers. We left no stone unturned discussing the battle for our freedom, the crackdown on comedy, mental health and religion. This Sarde is as real as they come.

Sarde (noun), [Sa-r-de]: A colloquial term used in the Middle East to describe the act of letting go & kicking off a stream of consciousness and a rambling narrative.
The Sarde After Dinner Podcast is a free space based out of the heart of Beirut, Lebanon, where Médéa Azouri & Mouin Jaber discuss a wide range of topics (usually) held behind closed doors in an open and simple way with guests from all walks of life.

Shaden, about your story with your friend at the gay party and the hijabi woman: it made me remember something that happened 4 years ago with me in France. I was with a hijabi girl in a hippie party. She expressed concerns if someone can hurt us. I replied : of course not ! Here’s is the safest place for us ❤ #tolerance #stereotype

I think this podcast highlighted the exact perspective on life that everyone should have, just love and accept everyone and look at the bigger picture. Such an interesting and natural conversation. Shaden is a more reliable source on politics and culture in Lebanon than all academic sources combined. Learning about Lebanon makes me appreciate its wonderful and intelligent people
