- Welcome to Chasing the Joneses!
In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, we left behind the traditional sticks and bricks to spend our days full-time on the road. We bought a 2000 Damon Challenger 35ft motorhome and did our best to sell it all off before hitting the road. We hope that you will join us on our journey as we share our RV life, travels, upgrades, renovations, tips, and tricks with you.
We are a relatively new channel and would appreciate you helping us grow by liking our videos, and subscribing to the channel! 😊
In this episode, we show you how to update old RV graphics while saving you money.
I recently went to get new RV graphics and I was told that I needed to remove the old ones first then they would charge me for making new ones plus the labor to install them. I was given an estimate of just under one thousand dollars.
For less than $200.00 we painted new RV graphics on our 2000 Damon Motor Home.
The cost per item will vary from city to city which is why I am giving an approximate cost per item. The paint we used has great reviews for multiple projects. We sealed them with clear gloss. We put four coats of paint with 3 coats of gloss.
Supply list.
1. Soft Scrub. Approx cost $3.00.
2. 3M green scrub pads. Approx cost 4 pack $12.00.
3. 120 grit sand block. Approx cost $7.00.
4. Pack of multi grit sandpaper. Approx Cost $10.00.
4. Bucket
5. Towels or rags
6. 2 Masking paper roll of 140 ft (Home Depot). Approx $11.00 each.
7. Blue painters tape 2 inches (Home Depot) Approx $6.00, 4 Rolls.
8. Spray Paint (Wall-Mart) Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X ultra cover paint and primer, satin. Approx cost per can $4.00. We had four colors and needed 14 cans.
9. Clear Gloss (Wall-Mart) Rust-Oleum painters touch 2X Ultra Cover. Approx cost per can $4.00. We needed 5 cans.

THANKS! WORKED HARD ON IT.. **
It's easy and it's a FUN PROJECT you can also Customize you stuff - using metalic flec paint or creat NEW graphix what ever
That's the great thing about it. We changed the colors to suite us. Yes you are right to put a UV protector... Thanks for Subscribing!
Nice!!!
Thanks!
You would not have cracked graphics? I have had 3 rvs. Keep it washed and clean? And get professional wax for your rv and wax twice a year and keep a cover over it when not traveling.. it will look brand new after 20 years if your take the time and take care of it.
Thanks @rictech for the Great tip and I agree.
Unfortunately, when people buy used, they often inherit those graphics. When we purchased the RV on the video, we bought it like that.
Always look forward to your comments
Hi Tim from Scott
Hey brother!!!! Hope all is well with you and the family
Did do this 4 months ago (When you uploaded) or even earlier?
This is so amazing, but is it really this easy???
Are you noticing any peeling/chipping?
Great job! How can I find your part 2 with doing the name logo?
Donna, Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, I had several upcoming videos that were on our camera, and all the files were corrupted, including the second video. They all had to be deleted... But what can you do? I now download them to my computer as quickly as I can..
Any before and after shots? How long did this job take?
Thank you for your question. I did one side in 2 and half days. The hardest part was taping it off. I will try to post a couple of extra pics. My computer is down at the moment.
nice
Thanks
Where's part 2???? Looking and can't find it...thanks!
Samuel, unfortunately my videos became corrupt and we lost a lot of videos they we were going to post. But the paint job is holding up. It still looks like i just painted it..
Doing my rv stripes this weekend. Did 14 cans per stripe per color do your entire RV?
He that's great send me a pic when you are done. I did use a lot of cans but 14 per stripe. Each color I used 4 to 5 cans. Your stipes could by wider and need additional cans. I felt it our when I did my first stripe.
how is the paint holding up?
William, the paint is holding up great, it color has stayed, no fading out or peeling.
How is it handling?
Jose, its doing very well. The paint that we used has held up no cracking, no fading. Looks great!
It's gorgeous! The colors really POP and it is holding up great!
I HATE Rv graphics. They are ugly & grotesque.
What I LOVE is the murals we see on the sides
of u-haul trucks. San Francisco, Yellowstone,
Grand Tetons, Martha Vineyards. Thats what
I wish was on my Rv. My graphics are cracking
& a heatgun will peel them off which I will do soon.
!
There are print shops that could do a Mural for the side of your RV. It's more or less a peel-and-stick.
And I agree a mural would look Great!!
Did Papa Smurf pick the colors? Lol it looked better before. Furthermore why not just put new stripes on it? Meh
Thanks for your input
