- This video was years in the making and by far the most effort I've ever put into a single video. Total time spent driving without catching a single fish: 16 hours. total casts: too many to count. In the end I completed my goal of catching a species near the very top of my bucket list!

I finally had my brain tumor surgery. No cancer, 2 years to get to this point! Now I'm excited to do my recovery watching you catch giant muskie! Congratulations!
Let’s go! Congrats, thank you for fighting for all that time. You’re an inspiration!
GOOD CATCH NICK!!!
Congratulations on your recovery 🙏 I am in remission now for 4 years
Congratulations! I'm sure it was an extremely scary and stressful period. Best of luck to you!
@@billanderson8388congratulations! Hope it's another 40!
The fact that you declared, "We did it!" is what makes you top-shelf Nick.Great stuff. Happy for YOU.
There is nothing “top shelf” about anything he does. I don’t understand you people. Nick is the ultimate dipshit at fishing.
The first musky is always the best 😊
Nick's amazing. We need more selfless folks.
It was like Kamala Harris, "We did it Joe, we did it"😂😂😂
I will one hundred percent agree with this comment
Heya! Swede here - and as a person who fishes for a lot of northern pike (they grow monstrous in size here) id like to give some feedback ; treble hooks and metal leaders are your friends. Agressive hook sets are necessary! Rapala lures usually work great - and bigger ones than you think work great.
muskie can grow much bigger than pike, greetings from europe ;)
Definitely steel leaders. Jointed Rapalas work great especially when trolling.
Heavier mono and fluorocarbon will also keep them from cutting you off and they won’t see it
We get some pretty monstrous pike up here in northern Minnesota and Canada. Yeah rapalas are great i like using specifically the jointed ones. Also there is this one brand only sold in Minnesota called RAW swimbaits and the pike can’t resist it lmao
In fishing, it's strange how after you've caught a particular fish after having tried for a long time to catch said fish, suddenly you'll start catching them more often without even trying.
This is an apples to oranges analogy but, I purchased some chatter baits back when they first appeared on the market. I fished with them every time I was out on the water. For over a year of fishing with them, I never caught a darn thing with them.
Then, while I was out at a local park pond I was making my way back to my truck and casting as I went, I had a chatter bait tied on and I finally got a bite, (Large Mouth Bass) after a year and a half of fishing with it and having no luck.
It got me excited, so I turned around and walked back up the shore of the pond and about fifteen yards from where I'd caught that bass, I got another hit. It was good sized channel catfish. I walked and cast for about fifteen more minutes and I caught a second channel catfish.
Now for some reason I'll routinely catch different species of fish with those chatter baits. I must have just been holding my mouth the wrong way before when I was reeling those chatter baits in.
My grandfather used to fish for Muskie in northern Minnesota. Given our 65 year age difference, it didn’t mean much to me at the time-us kids would fish for rock bass and other panfish with bamboo rods.
Awesome, I'm glad you finally got onto them :) Most of the time these fish are right up against walls or under your feet. Next time you go down there, try walking a lure along that drop off in front of you. It looks juicy as hell.
Lewis Walker Jr.'s 54-pound, 3-ounce muskie, caught on Conneaut Lake, Crawford County, has stood as the Pennsylvania state record since 1924. That's in my back yard....lol Grats on the nice catches!!
Greenlane has bigger ones just no one can hook or bring them in on rod and reel, bow yes .
Why not, @@jeffreylong9405; are they far too big?
Way to go Nick! No muskie for me yet. One grabbed my leach while walleye fishing. Almost spooled me. Attempting to stop it, broke off. Nearly boated another, it jump out of prop wash, nearly landed in the jon boat.
My bucket list fish is a Northern Pike, which is very similar to your Musky. Great video and I really appreciate you going back to show us just how much work you put into this fish! You earned it and a huge congrats!
Come backcountry 🛶 in Northern Ontario with me you’ll get your fill. Taste great but they’re tricky to fillet.
@gregsoto2679 Yeah, if you go to the right areas, I understand they are fairly common, I just haven't found the right spot. Fish all over the Northwest US and haven't caught one yet.
@@dukemetzger3784 Go east, young man! In some places out west, they are considered a trash fish! Great "power per pound".
@@gregsoto2679 yes full off bones is the Pike where ever you catch one from had some big monsters in my time over 25lbs in the UK never broke the 30lb though, but they are not unpleasant to eat just need to be careful with the bones would rather have a brown trout myself lol
@@dantheman9228 I’ve never weighed a fish. I 🎣 in the wilderness - scales have to be stored and carried. Every ounce matters. I measure them. Caught a 4’ pike - the biggest.
Great catches Nick, love your channel!
As a northern pike fisherman I would recommend not using a lip-grip for holding the muskie. If a pike/muskie thrashes while holding its easy to break its jaw.
No, lip grips are an easy way to trash a muskie's jaw. It is not recommended for pike or muskie
Gill plate grip with a wet hand, and support the organs. Net as long as it takes to get the beast hooks back out. Pike, musky, and giant pickerel all the same, my favorite fish to catch, fin missiles. If you lip grip, even not breaking the jaw, the thrash cas destroy the teeth.
Muskies are FUN! Congrats on your catch! Here's to many many more bucket list fish caught!
What an amazing day, your energy and excitement flood right through the speakers. Congratulations Nick.
Your enthusiasm is contagious and so pure. Fantastic video, so happy for you. Just think how amazing your next adventures will be!!
Congratulations! Four Muskie! Outstanding! That spillway holds some ginormous flathead cats and buffalo too!
618 fishing and Ernie the Hawg Snatcher are by far my two favorite CZcams fishing channels. Nice fish Nick!
I’m used to landing bull reds and black drum down here in Louisiana near the Gulf of Mexico but I love your videos. Your enthusiasm and inclusion of the viewers is phenomenal. I always feel like I’m with you. Incredible work Nick and congratulations on your bucket list fish!!🎉🎉
CONGRATULATIONS Nick. 🎉 I’ve caught only one muskie. Burnt River, Ontario🇨🇦. It looked so much like all the northern pike I’ve caught I had to look it up😛.
Again, very happy for you. 🎣
Musky incoming

Good job Nick! I've caught a 45" musky this past october on my kayak and it was the most intense fishing experience I've had so far. Last year I've caught one a little smaller while being in the water in my wadders. These fish are such a blast to catch!
My pb is 41 and was caught in September

find my own style of
filmmaking and i have but i’m still definitely taking some notes from the master ! Thanks Nick congrats on the Muskie!! 🔥

Congratulations Nick! I enjoyed watching you get a bucket list Muskie!!!
The right lure, the right sun, the right color. Just the right conditions to get on the bite. Fun to watch you have so much fun! Nothing like blowing (or better said pulling) a goal out of the water!
Way to go Nick, congrats on an awesome day.
Congratulations, Nick!!!
