My dad first learned about this trick from a book by the famous illusionist of the USSR, Alexander Vadimov, who described this trick in his book “Tricks on the Club Stage” (1959)
Hi Ledi - thanks for the information. Flexible Glass or Bending Glass (as it was known in the UK) was invented by British Magician Oswald Rae. It was first described in Oswald Rae’s book: Sub Rosa published in 1928 (Chapter IV, More Miscellaneous Tricks - Bending A Piece of Glass). And it obviously has been a worldwide hit ever since. Thanks for commenting.
Hi Eric yes Doug made a big splash with the version built by Wellington - and you can see the effect and the video here: www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/stage/flexible-glass-by-wellington-enterprises/ Thanks for commenting.
great illusion!!
Thanks Roberto. I really like this original version of the effect and tried to stay close to the original presentation.

OMG what a dramatic performance 👻
The audience is likely to freeze in shock
Thanks Olaf - I was trying to stay true to the original presentation.
I remember Doug Henning performing this.
