Teenagers can’t keep crimes secret. In every case with teens they blab to other people.
Well tbf any cases where they didn't blab wouldn't get made into videos.
@@eadweard. good point. I think it’s the minority though
Note to self: don’t use teenagers for murders.
@@caraclark need to write a book called “what I learned from watching true crime”. Would probably end up on a watchlist though.

"Marry in haste, repent at leisure" is actually really good advice.
Yes, I know a man who quickly married after his longtime wife died of cancer. He was miserable and soon divorced and remarried. He divorced and remarried again. I lost touch after he had married his fourth wife (three in under six years).
I don’t know what happened after that. Did he stay married to her? Divorce and stay single? Or keep trying?
The odds of divorce are about the same for the first two marriages. After that, the rates go way up, like over 75% chance he’ll get divorced a third time. Odds are the marriage failed.
Oh it is! Been there done that.
My grandfather was a veteran of the Second World War and would always speak with great disgust when recalling the effort of all the men trying to avoid the mayonnaise jars on Normandy.
Women who convince someone to kill on their behalf are extremely manipulative, and in my mind, more dangerous than the fools they get to do their dirty work.
Yes.😨
Truly. The people who do it are usually better than average and that’s why they are vulnerable to the damsel in distress routine. You have to have a sense of defending the weak for the con to work on you. I think they should get intensive counseling and probation and the women should rot in jail for abusing decency and committing murder using someone stringer’s hands.
Ahh what a typical sentiment. Somehow it’s always more the woman’s fault for using words instead of the men’s fault for actually physically killing somebody because men have no control over themselves.
What a shame that the person she initially approached and the teenager that overheard the conversation did not report this law enforcement, and to Reuben!!! See something, say something...
Yes! Or at least tell Ruben. Something!
Right.😔😡
That happens too often
"There weren't enough mayonnaise jars in the world to make Rubin feel safe" lmao your dry humor kills me! Great video thanks Doc 😊

Every time I listen to stories like this, I feel very lucky to be alive coming out of my abusive marriage.
Good for you.

Brilliant analysis of a tragic and senseless murder. That woman was entitled, enabled and plain creepy. She was a nasty and horrible woman. She ruined 3 teenagers lives. Those children lost a father. Thank you Dr Grande. Brilliant analysis, tragic outcome and informative topic.
Those scumbags knew what they were doing . She didn't "ruin" their lives. Sure, she deserved life in prison or even the death sentence for orchestrating this, no argument there, but you have to be a psychopath yourself to take another human life without any regard for the consequences of your actions. If the hadn't committed murder at 15, they would have done so later in life. Some apples are just rotten from the start.

As negative and unlikable as anyone I have seen in a TV interview in years. She should have been sent to jail for years on that basis alone
"She had created a schnauzer free zone of death..." LOL
Wow. I initially thought you were talking about the Pamela Smart murder conspiracy from 1990. Color me surprised to see another teacher-tells-3-students-to-murder plot.
My thoughts exactly
I remember the movie with Ann-Margret and Peter Coyote. Evil woman. Poor Ruben. Love your show and the dry humor always cracks me up!
Same here. I remember feeling very sorry for Ruben, which was probably partially due to Peter Coyote's attractiveness. 🙂

That movie was so good! After seeing the movie, I saw an A & E did a documentary about it and could make connections to the real story. The movie did the case justice.

Omg!! There wasn't enough mayonnaise jars in the world to make Ruben feel safe. 🤣😂🤣 No matter how brutal and sad the crime is Dr Grande has me in stitches.
Poor guy and his past wife's legacy. Diane should rot in jail. And what the hell teens agree to a murder plot??!! Thats probably the most disturbing part.
Disturbing and imo sad. They never had a chance. They weren't mentally or emotionally mature. For all we know they came from abusive or neglectful backgrounds
I will never understand how these people think they will never get caught! If someone wants to keep a secret, no one else better know about it!
Narcissists believe they are too smart to get caught. They also aren't very introspective and don't think about the consequences of their actions. they are truly foolish people.
A reasonable person would just get a divorce. Never a shortage of crimes or criminals to study. Thank you Dr. Grande for your content.🤔❤🇺🇸
The sad truth…💔
And she’s smiling in her mug shot lol.
Dropping that advert right before the crime was some next level marketing... And kinda savage lol.

Excellent analysis, Dr Grande. What a tragedy for Susan’s children left orphans by their wicked stepmother.
She had them believing that she was their biological mother yet she showed clear favoritism to her daughter.
He had plenty of evidence that she would harm him and yet stayed anyway. Always trust your gut. Get out while you can. Run.
"There weren't enough mayonnaise jars in the world to make Ruben feel safe." 😂😂😂
"The rings didn't have any sentimental value anymore..." 😏 seriously love Dr. Grande low key shade!!
Many marriages are just long term contracts for exchange of goods for services. I have had several female patients over the years describe their marriages as such. Diane breached the contract by refusing services, and then became violent at the prospect of losing the goods..
Well put
Ditto! Wish I could have put it so succinctly! Even if yours sounds a little more cynical re m/f relationships. I hope you don't look at your own that way? But, right on on this one in her way of thinking, except she thought she knew him well enough that he'd put up with it! I'm speculating.😕😳🌞🌻
@@nomadscavenger No, I've been very blessed. But 20 years of Family practice and 12 years in Psychiatry has taught me a LOT of cynicism..Plus, I was a cop before med school, and the stuff you hear in that job is frequently mind blowing..
I recently saw this story on a crime show. The lady really did act like she had nothing to do with it, tho it did seem obvious. So I guess she was (is) a narcissist, who act like they are so normal, and would never do anything wrong.
What an evil and horrible woman. She made it quite obvious that she was dangerous. It’s always frustrating to hear stories like this. I wish that more had been done to prevent this tragedy. I’m glad that you are keeping this story in the limelight. It may serve as a cautionary tale to someone who needs it. Looking forward to your next video
It’s horrible that people knew she was plotting and didn’t go to the police.
Absolutely despicable
After my divorce, I was approached by women like Diane who were looking for someone to replace their divorced husbands and to be a father to the children in their custody. I finally realized after time passed that these women were ethically challenged, and addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. For these reasons our relationships soon soured and I had to end them.
I stopped dating women because I realized they were only interested in me for my money, labor, and to show their friends and family that they could still "get a man". I have not regretted that decision. My life has been very happy ever since.
The men who approached me after my divorce were nutty and wanted to have access to my car, credit cards - washing machine - shower - and to show off me and my kids as well- I gave up . My small town isn’t the place for anyone but stable marrieds and if one is not in that group yet still sane -? I just do my own thing .
Those are called hobosexuals
4:14-4:36 is something I did as I was a victim of DV & there are indeed ways I came up with on using empty Mason jars. At night, not alot of light/moving them in different areas, he wouldn't know where they were & if he opened a door, I'd hear him via the glass jars. Survival mode kicks in when in fear.
Just a reminder I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating about a sordid murder that involved a teaching assistant and three stupid teenagers that wasn't enough to inspire the Nicole Kidman movie 'To Die For'....it was a different case that did that.
@@andrewgross4445 Yes, 'To Die For' was inspired by the Pamela Smart case.
Great movie though.
Don't you mean... "spec-u-ating"?
Just a reminder I'm not diagnosing anybody in this comment section, only speculating about where you've been lately, BZ! I really missed your non diagnosing skills on the past few videos. Hope all is well with you! Carry on....🤣
@@LDiamondz Thank you so much! Sometimes the death an mayhem featured in the videos makes the exercise much more difficult ! Also I have been very sleepy on and off...i have two sleep disorders so it makes things difficult at times. :)
Dr. Grande, in my humble opinion you should consider covering Lima Jevremovic and the mental health company she founded called Aura. Lima purports to to utilize virtual reality to treat addiction and other mental health issues. Lima founded the company despite not having any medical/research training or experience. One of Aura’s first “case studies” (this is term Aura used) may have been a causal factor in the death of a woman named Amanda Rabb. Amanda passed away in a rehab facility while under Aura’s care pursuant to a court-ordered treatment period. Lima proceeded to lie about the cause of Amanda’s death, telling the public that Amanda died as a result of epilepsy and was not on any medication except Tylenol. The actual autopsy report indicates Amanda died from cardiac arrhythmia, had a number of drugs in her system at the time of her death, and the report does not reference epilepsy as a contributing factor at all. If you’ve read this far, thank you for taking the time to read my essay, and thank you for all the hard work you continue to do! It is truly inspiring.
While their treatments are indeed nonsense, I suspect she lied about Rabb's death to conceal the fact she was still a drug-addled wreck and that the rehab hadn't been as effective as suggested.
Great suggestion
I just found some videos on this woman. This is a great suggestion. She triggers me. When she was talking about Amanda's death it was literally 1 min of speaking about her the rest was about her "clinic" terrible.
@@eadweard. The whole story is really disturbing.
The guy interviewing her is giving sadistic vibes.

What a great way to unwind, with Dr. Grande! This lady is a horrid human being. She ruined so many lives. Excellent analysis Dr. Grande. 👏 👏 👏
Hi Dr. Grande. I think you're exactly on point with this analysis. She was a treacherous narcissist psycho= psychonarc. May her life in prison be as dangerous & crazy as the nasty abuse she caused the kids & the teens she brainwashed into all lies & corruption she ruined & sabotaged their lives. Personally, I hope people like her & her rot in hell. Peace & better times hopefully await you Dr. G., Love, Janine Smiley🙂😀😎😏🤩
This reminds me, more or less, of the Pamela Smart case up here in New Hampshire. The circumstances are a bit different, but there are many similar parallels. Anyway, great job on the analysis, Dr. Grande. Mayonnaise jar-wielding security schnauzers are more difficult to train than your standard security schnauzers, I believe.
I was thinking of Smart too.
🐶😂
Regarding the mayo jars... maybe they were the old fashioned glass kind with the metal lids? Then if you don't screw the tops down and you put them close together they would kinda rattle and clink if someone walked into the basement. Idk... it was just an idea as to the how/why
Thanks for the upload on my birthday, Dr. Grande!
Hey Dr. Grande, could you do more videos about children/daughters with narcissistic parents, the effects, and how to understand/deal with/heal from them? I came from your daddy issues video and I loved how you explained things!

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 ‼️‼️‼️‼️
😂 that sounds like something she would say.
You'd mentioned Highlander before, as a film with a similar storyline to this, but I was also thinking of "To Die For". Nicole Kidman plays a woman who would love to be on television more than anything in life itself. So, she hires three dim-witted teenagers to kill her husband (played by Matt Dillon). Hearing about this awful woman setting up a hit on her husband made me want to watch "To Die For" again. it's on my DVD shelf. Great movie, highly recommended if you haven't seen it yet.
I understand when young people don’t report someone for making statements about wanting or going to kill another, because they think the kid is just saying that to blow off steam. However, two adults actually knowing of murder plans I don’t understand. Witnessing a meeting between Diane and the boys where the plan was discussed and seeing Diane pay money to one of them and not reporting it is inexcusable. Likewise, actually being approached and asked to murder someone and being given a map of the house, also inexcusable. I’d also find it hard to believe neither said anything about it to anyone else, and those people did nothing, either. A man’s life could’ve been saved and the son spared seeing his father shot and dying had either bothered to speak up.
Can you please do an analysis on the missing mayo from the mayo jars
Outstanding humor, considering the contact of your videos.
Always interesting
Thank you.
Peace 💕🇺🇲
I have followed this story for years and so many movies and documentaries have been done on this case. But, Dr. Grande, your analyzation of her psyche is spot on, as always.
He was cold & immature too moving on so fast after his wife died. Sounds like 2 narcissists met w/a tragic outcome again. Great jokes & points. Thanks Dr G😊🧡💜
Murderer and victim equivalence.
Men cannot be alone and he was overwhelmed with 2 toddlers. Don't blame the victim. Nothing narcissistic about him.
@@lf9341 There are ways to get assistance with your children besides desperately looking for a woman 3 wks after your spouse dies. No victim blaming. Calling a spade a spade. Narcissists cannot be alone generally regardless of the circumstances.
@@zenawarrior7442 He did allow Diane to withhold the truth that she was not Ruben's biological children. He alsio did not step in and set up boundaries with his new wife Diane but instead allowed her free reign in allowing her to abuse his children.
How many pepe this one crazy woman harmed with her actions. And he really was walking into the marriage so damn blind. What a mess...cascading evil.
I remember this case. Ugh! She ruined so many lives
That was a hell of a rebound relationship for both of them
Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead
The 15 and 16 year olds looked more like 35 and 36
She should have been removed from the school due to the inappropriate /overly personal comments she was making. As usual, she gets the kids to do her dirty work, so she can claim her innocence later. This would never had happened had it not been for her manipulating them.
Terrifying. Thanks you for the interesting analyses every day of so many fascinating cases. I really appreciate them all.

I think the Mayonnaise jars were put there so if she drops or hit one during her way to the basement that he would hear her coming.
That WAS the idea, I assume. Dr. Grande's point, I assume, was that they are so large the wife would see them and could move them out of the way, noiselessly.noiseless.
I don't understand why the man didn't install a lock.
Why did she go to Susan’s family’s home?? I would’ve told her to kick rocks. And does she not realize she would be the obvious and immediate suspect?

“It's better to burn out than to fade away!”.....Kurgan. Now, I must go polish my mayonnaise jars.
I remember this one. I suggested it in comments once or twice.
Did they have to be mayonnaise jars or could any jar do?😁
The three teens … seriously ? What was the kind of teens hanging around her ? And the one who waited for a reward to come forward ? Seriously ? This community have some serious teen problems !
You see, she tried to recruit Reuben’s Cousin who said no; people are autonomous and do have options. Some of these cases in which it takes next to no time to convince someone/people commit murder are wild! I think the murders should always get a longer sentence than the person who suggests it in such cases as you can decline and then (please) report the fact you were asked! I get with cults for example people get brainwashed but that's different for it takes awhile and generally involves people living separate from the rest of society.
The empty mayonnaise jars: If the door to the basement is opened by pushing it instead of pulling it, the person on the other side of the basement opening the door can't see what's on the floor behind the basement door. If the empty jars are arranged in a manner, that when the door opens, one or more jars fall down the basement stairs making a noise, then yes, this can be used as a technique to keep safe at night from someone not trusted.
*Re: Mayo Jars* Presumably the configuration of the mayo jars was changed each night. Any intruder would be snared into this ingenious trap, knocking one of them over and thereby alert the mastermind of this innovative scheme.
oh please
