    ZSN Pro 2 were the first KZ hybrid I thought was actually worth listening to, it sounds very good for the price, it impresses me more than even the Castor. It doesn't sound as good as a 1+1 with a proper knowles but KZ has gotten so good with their DDs it doesn't matter that much.

    I watched this new show called Ripley using the ZSN Pro 2 with stock eartips. It was oddly satisfying. The way the ZSN Pro 2 complimented that show was incredible. Ripley is a masterpiece. The pacing, the story, the camera work, imagery, the acting is so good. IDK what it is, if its cuz the show is in black and white and does something to the sound (amplifies the perception of sound), or if they mixed it very well, or cuz the ZSN Pro 2 has elevated treble thats kinda unique that made it such a good match for that show but it was just so satisfying. Highly recommend the show and the ZSN Pro 2.

    Great review!
    I started with the KZ ZSN Pro X some years ago and didn't like it. Not until after A LOT of burn-in and a better cable. The original silver-plated cable made it sound much too boomy and bright. But this IEM scales impressively with good cables and sources (NiceHCK BlackCat Utra: Rich & big sound, NiceHCK Maple: similar sound but leaner and more neutral, 4.4mm on iBasso DC4 Pro). I think it is underrated by many because few have tried it with good cables. Because of this, I often prefer it to KZ PR2, KZ D-Fi std and Zalnotes Zero despite still being a bit too boomy and bright. The other IEMs don't scale nearly as well. So when I was able to get a KZ ZSN Pro 2 for $6.32(!) I was very excited to test it! I gave it over a week of continuous burn-in and this is my favourite so far. Much improved. Sounds significantly cleaner than the D-Fi with more treble extension. The improved drivers and tuning are definitely working!

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před měsícem

      I think of D-Fi as the 1st gen, it was the parent of a few KZ sets that were later refined like this one. If you have a nicer source, KZ drivers tend to scale well, true for their DD and BA.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Hang on, don't go chasing unicorns. ZSN Pro 2 is special as I said, the drivers they picked are kinda special and they haven't released another set with them yet. I would advise against going back in time, just let KZ celebrate New Year and see what they do afterwards. They dropped that set and if it was any other time of year, you would see those drivers somewhere else. For now, enjoy it, it was a bargain for what it is. AS16 Pro is a cool set, but unless you have too much money, just enjoy ZSNP2 for a while.

    Guilty pleasure is appropriate term alright. I think I have 10+ KZ sets (counting CCAs) in the drawer and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Way back when I was discovering IEMs, I got seriously burned on Shure. I bought SE 215, which was fine, but then I though "more money, more music" and splurged on SE 535. Oof, not saying 535 is terrible, but it was very disappointing to say the least. So I went in a review rabbit hole and found KZs. My first and still favourite is KZ ZS10 Pro. I think I'm gonna order ZSN Pro 2, just because, but if the current trend continues I'm really hoping for ZS10 Pro 2 (I think there's an X version, but that was a while ago now).

      @@adamtchorzewski6961 For the past year I've been using 7Hz Timeless AE, but they go for $200+, so they're not really in the KZ category. Some people don't like the sound of planar magnetic drivers as they can come off as harsh and unforgiving for poorly mastered music. If you don't mind that though, KZ has their own planar models. There's a new KZ PR3 out now, though I still prefer the tuning on KZ x HBB PR2. Both sets go for around $50, or less if you catch them on sale. Planars also respond well to EQ-ing, if you're willing to experiment.

    for listening to live guitar, which budget IEM do you recommend? Im guessing should be neutral tuning right?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The gist of your question is personal to you, how you like to listen to guitar. ZSNP2 is really sharp, detail oriented, perhaps less natural and not neutral. KZ will occasionally do a neutral bass shelf like D-Fi with switches, but neutral budget used to be owned by Tinhifi and T2. That is like asking for the most detailed set, that doesn't correlate to what most people prefer. You mostly need to figure out what you like and go from there.

  • @UJThakur
    @UJThakur Před 6 měsíci +1

    For ZSN PRO X, is reducing 2db for both 4k and 8k in EQ the right way to fix the harsh, sharp treble with shrill and sibilance? Or is there any better method? tbh after this tune, I went from slightly dissatisfied to super pleased experience. But I wonder if I did anything that would mess the details or overall sound quality.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před 6 měsíci

      Once you start EQ'ing, that is your experience. If it sounds better or you enjoy your set more, that is what matters. For me, it is closer to 5k. Sets that have a 5k peak are harsh to me

      @PaulWasabii  Před 7 měsíci +4

      My opinion, yeah, ZSNP2 is tuned like older KZ, but the newer drivers are tuned differently now. And the DD is better in ZSNP2. If you haven't tried a more modern KZ, then yeah, the price is right and its not radically different.

      Sure, but most people gravitate to 7hz Zero. Cheap and leaner bass.

    how does this fare against the kz zsn pro x?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před 6 měsíci +1

      ZSNP2 is basically a modern version of a similar sound. You might find it better, but it is more of an example of KZ doing a similar sound on modern drivers and techniques. Certainly the driver quality is better and you might here ZSNP2 as cleaner, less harsh than Pro X

      The cheaper one. ZSNP2 is slightly better

      I upgraded from the ZSN Pro X to the Pro 2 and for me the difference was big. Much improved precision and clarity. But I use it with a nice cable and dongle. TRN tips are also great with this. It really needs a good source and cable to shine. The difference would be less with stock cable and source like a phone, but I would still go for the Pro 2. Is this sweat proof?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Před 2 měsíci

      Most IEMs are not sweat proof because there is usually a mesh filter on the nozzle that may absorb moisture. No guarantee it will or will not happen but if so, you will hear one side's volume dip as moisture builds up.
