To me, the dystopian view of AI is mostly FUD. The ChatGPT 4.0 demos leveraging camera and microphone seem super helpful. That said, Apple is smart to brand this as friendly. Perception is reality.
My immediate concern is not so much about AI turning into terminators and hunting down every last human… maybe that's a problem later, but right now it's jobs! In the “Humans Need Not Apply” video… czcams.com/video/7Pq-S557XQU/video.html …many of the top jobs look like prime targets for AI / Automation. That “new" job of “Computer Programmer” is also at risk. There were a lot of tech layoffs recently, probably from over hiring, but there are other factors too. You don't need to pay a lot of money to hire a “Webmaster” when you can go to sites like Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress.com. As for App Development, when's the last time you downloaded a new app? From what I've seen, it's not like it was when smartphones were new. The big focus now is AI. Maybe it is hype, but what's if it's not? What if we're truly entering the age of mass automation? NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang said, “It is our job to create computing technologies that nobody has to program” and if that becomes a reality, that's going to lead to lots of automation… which means more job loss. A common solution I hear is “Basic Income”. That's what I consider a dystopian sci-fi scenario. Where's the leverage for people on basic income? There are no labor unions if you don't work. People are going to want more money, while the government is going to want to give people less money. Look at the state of social security in the USA, but somehow that's going to become even bigger yet better? Then you might say… “People on basic income can pursue their dreams, maybe start a new business.” …so let's say they start a channel on CZcams. It takes them a whole day to make 10 minutes of content, while AI is dynamically generating virtual worlds that are custom tailored to each individual person. Maybe there's a chance of a utopia, where people could just play and relax all day with their friends and families… or is it individuals confined to their pods, with AR goggles strapped to their heads, where what little freedom they have is focused on playing a video game simulation in where they pretend to have a job? When you look at all the Truck Driving Simulators, it's like we're almost at the latter scenario.
@@PhoticsTV I was always told "work smarter, not harder". This allows us to work smarter and lets the machines create the wealth. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's why I keep buying the S&P 500 (well, I like to buy the Russell 3000 since there's probably some firm in there that will find an innovative way to use this stuff).
The next video is probably just going to be a typical Crossy Road video. Week four of the farm update is next. And in general, a face reveal video is not likely anytime soon.
