They are receiving whats called generational punishment. Because of something their parent did they will spend their lives in prison and so will their children. In case you guys don't know who French actor Tahar Rahim is go watch his prison movie " A Prophet", he earned a Palme D'or for best actor in this movie. He is a great actor and you will be impressed by his performance.

Actually each language has its own pitch! Speakers of British English (on average) speak in a higher pitch than speakers of American English. So @galas062 is right, using pitch is one way of making an accent that's not yours sound believable.

If you mean the story of prisoner "Muhammadu Salahi", it is a true story and he himself wrote a book about it called "The Guantánamo Diary", you can Google it and read it , it is a very useful book.
1st time hearing about this guy in gitmo... no idea of the outcome of the man's experience but this movie makes me upset if an innocent was torture and held captive without a trial for 6 years?? Damn.

I really liked it. The casting was spot on. The dialogue was great. I don't understand America's insistence on using British actors to play Americans but whatever. The story is fascinating and disturbing and kept me enthralled the whole way through. Well worth a watch.
For an english actor to alter their speech they have to have an innate understanding of language. A lot of british actors are shakespearean trained. If you can do shakespeare you own the acting world.
