  • In 1924, Ernest Bloch wrote three pieces that form a suite called “From Jewish Life,” intended to be performed together and in this order: Prayer, Supplication, and Jewish Song. Hoffman likes performing these three pieces in the opposite order to what Bloch intended; he begins with Jewish Song, then Supplication, and then the highly potent Prayer.
