  • This time I will introduce Himi's fishing industry, which is attracting attention around the world.
Himi's fishing industry, famous for its Kanburi yellowtail and set net fishing, has attracted worldwide attention for its excellent sustainability and has been certified as a Japanese agricultural heritage site.
Himi has a long history, with fixed net fishing already practiced in the Edo period, and in the past, it was an interesting type of fishing that cycled between land and sea.
Currently, the idea of valuing the connection between land and sea is linked to nature conservation, and we are working to protect important marine resources.
I would like to introduce what I learned about Himi's fishing industry at the Himi City Fisheries Cultural Exchange Center and the Himi City Museum of History.
