- IHLAZO is a short series about young people, relationships early or forced marriages, set in a Zimbabwean village, explores the curiously painful life of Siza who thinks she has escaped her abusive marriage yet fate has other plans for her.
Child early and forced marriages are a global problem across many different countries, culture, religion and ethnicities. Child marriages remain a widespread in Zimbabwe. As of 2019 approximately, 1 of 3 girls in Zimbabwe are married before the age of 18. Early pregnancy is one of the most dangerous cause and consequence of this harmful practice. Girls married early are more likely to experience violence, abuse, and forced sexual relations due to unequal power relations they are more vulnerable to sexual transmitted infections and diseases

It's really nice to watch these short films. As a Shona person i get to know how our fellow Zimbabweans live. This reflects exactly our way of living, no much difference between Shonas and Ndebeles

@@JasperCharotaMukanyapeople out here are just very angry. Thing is most people from Mashonaland don't understand how difficult it is to not be shona in Zimbabwe. To this day, government marginalises us at every level. Even doing a similar production to this is a mission. We Submitted our script and were told to do it in Harare. We explained that it is set in Matobo and were told why are are all your cast Ndebele and you can use chisawaza hills or something like that.
If you are from Matabeleland you have experienced tribalism even from government so this person who responded to you seems very frustrated because all of you are considered bad to most of us.
I love your camera work mr Camera person. Especially the first one establishing the location. Your close ups are effective, it serves an emotion to the viewer. Its really true, sound and camera works add an emotion to the movie, keep up the good work, am still looking for more techniques.
