That removed submission is so high up was probably the biggest surprise out of all for me but definitely agree with that. It doesnt really get the attention it deserves, probably because of its rather unique song tho

I can't understand how they judged the levels. There are many well-decorated extreme demons out there but still, Cataclysm and Bloodbath get the spot. If you tell me the reason those two levels are included because of the theme, then how did Cybernetic Crescent get into the list? (One of the collab levels with a very inconsistent design, even other CZcamsrs explained it.)

The decoration doesn't make the level a bad one, lol.
I think Cataclysm and Bloodbath were compared to the decoration level at the time they were released. For the time, those levels were extremely well decorated.

Well, true, but I only made a single part in all of these and if you look at my ratings for my megacollabs they don't really drag the average score up by much. On Digital Descent it even drags it down a little. I feel like I rated them pretty fairly all things considered. I could have abstained from voting like crohn44 did on Sunset Sandstorm, but that's also much more understandable considering it's 100% by him.

Jeez, after looking at the spreadsheet I guess I was wrong for expecting Cosmic Cyclone (probably my favourite extreme, I might like RUST a bit more though) on the list lmao, 5/10 average? Do people really hate core style and APTeam this much? I just rejoined GD after a 5 year break and I am surprised by how much people are against them, though I don't know about all the different creator groups as I never delved deep into the community before quitting.
Granted, I am one of the rare people that thinks nhelv is like 8/10, not that great so eh, opinions I guess (not from a technical standpoint of course, I do respect the amount of work put into the level, but I don't like the effects all that much).

what im noticing is that the big guys in this community (basically everyone in geostorm) have this shitty habit of valuing "charm" and "originality" over literally everything else, and frankly its really annoying...
Especially when creators put a lot of time and effort into their work, and then all of a sudden their stuff is being put down for being too "generic" and "boring."
@@eifl_ A lot of people here have been here since the game was released, so it makes sense that they would be biased towards these older levels, as when they were released, they were mindblowing. As far as I know, Lake is the only one on the lineup who wasn't around for 1.9, so it makes sense she(is it she idk) doesn't have any nostalgia, as you can see, she(?) gave Marathon 3 while everyone else gave it around a 9.
TL,DR : Nostalgia
Making these types of lists is very complicated. Keep in mind that there are a lot of Extremes and many are from different eras. I would like to see more lists of this style such as: design levels, effects, art, modern style. The effort is appreciated
PD: It reminds me of those listisa of movies that specialized critics make
And next time they maybe will be serious about ranking them, not putting cataclysm in the 17th spot and giving amazing levels like Cosmic cyclone 1-5 ratings

I am absolutely ecstatic that Removed Submissions is in the top 10! I find the level to be extremely fun and has very good decoration in my opinion :)

I see a lot of people saying that this list isnt purely visuals, so let me clarify at least for my scores:
Scores I gave were really how much I like the level excluding how it plays. Primarily I like to judge off creativity, atmosphere, and how well the level matches the flow of the chosen song. Although we are not including how it plays, I was very much including how well the gameplay flows with the song and contributes to the overall experience. This is what compels me to rate levels like marathon, cataclysm, and especially spl a lot higher than just purely how they “look”. I personally really dont care that much about how visually appealing a level is, Im much more focused on the aforementioned aspects, Thanks for reading 👌

I can sort of understand old levels like Cataclysm, Bloodbath and even Quantum Processing making the Top 50, but Marathon?? That level looks extremely generic, though the gameplay is fun to watch I guess. Very surprised Ragnarok, The Golden or Firework didn't make it
