  • Hemenway Harbor at Lake Mead is the last launch ramp thats open. It probably will not be open for long. Surprisingly there wasnt a 3 hour long wait. But with the wind, it was a very challenging day to be a boater.

@@yesoryeslasvegas2502 I believe you’d need dry dock coverage on your policy or see if the marina is going to cover the loss on their liability insurance. Wow some really good video footage,, This really gave me "Agita" while having morning coffee! I never realized there were so many "Gilligans" @ this boat ramp!! There were so few captains that got it correct! #1 offload/ditch the passengers on the dock. an #2 there's only 1 captain (he/she) throttle up the boat onto the trailer.. Easy peasy ! Ok, so there was a little wind, but holy moley, I didn't see any major waves or white-caped water.. Good grief !! I rate these boaters a D- on a report card !! What really caught my eye is there's a whole new meaning ta "Scuba Trucks" Wow !!! LMAO !!!

The park service manager. How ever in charge of ramp and marina should close boating down except for recovery . The access to the lake is currently endangering people and equipment. Plus these boats could easily float the tow vehicle out to lake as far as vehicles are backing on water . Please close the ramp . Lack Mead should be off limits for recreational use.

Used to launch there many times each summer up until 1995. Relocated to East Coast then and haven't had a boat since. Lake was maybe 175 feet deeper then and we were used to seeing the lake at essentially full conditions in all the years we were boating there. Was a fairly steep drop at the ramp then, and barely needed to get even the trailer hitch wet. Your video shows that the end of the ramp now goes into shallows extending way out into the water necessitating backing ehicle out beyond the water line and into water above the running boards. Not good for the carpeting and upholstery. Appears this launch won't survive much longer.

Ralph, do you know the average depth of Lake Mead? I've been asking all the channels. Most give the elevation. I did find an older fishing/nautical map with depths but it's not up to date. On average, what would be the depth at Hemingway Launch. Just read it's the only one currently open. So this must be it. Also, read no boats over 24' & no deep hulls (shallow only). Hope you can help. Also, are you glad you moved East? It's not looking good for the Vegas area. Personally, I'd be selling now while there's a market. If no electric or water, then no buyers. Don't wanna sound negative but I'm not sure the area can come back from this. Thanks...

Here in Alabama, three of the popular lakes in the state have permanently banned: Houseboats, any boat longer than 30’, and 27’ boats capable of going 60 mph or more(pretty dang fast on water!) The Federal Supreme Court agreed with the Alabama legislators, thus upholding their law. Ocean-going vessels and cigarette boats were everywhere eroding islands, plus the shoreline. I’m afraid to go to any lake in our state on weekends…too many reckless boaters, which have led to gruesome injuries and deaths. People used to use caution and common sense while boating…not any more!
