    As you said, the money will talk and if there is enough of it. Mr. Okwonko will stay so it comes down to Wrexham FC deciding just how important he is to the teams continued success, and the player deciding how much he wants to make while he is still able to play the game. Given how old he is, I say he has a fair number of earning years left to him. Hopefully Wrexham will be able to convince him to stay with the team a little while longer.

      I agree with everything you said but part of me also wants the club to be sensible too. We just can't pay out ridiculous money either. We still need to bring in other squad members during the summer to replace the ones that have left.

    I’m of the opinion that Wrexham should make Arthur their first PL ambition Signing (I would pay him the wages of a high end Champions league GK over 5 years)

    There is one big advantage for a player to stick with wrexham: massive publicity and name recognition in the US pretty much opens the door to playing in the MLS in the future. This is a pretty attractive move for many. This player would certainly make the cut. If you've made a boatload of money over your career, the US is one place where you actually get to enjoy it in retirement.

    He is a pretty decent keeper and I would love him to stay but the lure of bigger clubs (at the moment) will be to much for him to resist. If he does stay however he could be a legend at the club. UP THE TOWN!

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone
      @WrexhamAFCfanzone  Před 22 dny

      I think big clubs with big wages will potentially dazzle him too. But then part of me also thinks he is looks the type to do a lot of soul searching so who knows? Like he said he could be a legend here!

  • @jph418
    @jph418 Před 23 dny +4

    “At the moment, I’m not too sure,” he said of his near future. “I’m just waiting to see what the summer is and just make a decision that’s best for myself. But you know, I said before that I’ve loved every minute of Wrexham. If it’s Wrexham where I am, and I think everyone’s happy. But if not, it’s been absolutely phenomenal being at the club and I have some moments with me that I’ll never forget.”
    So there’s more to the quote than “enjoyed”. The “everyone happy” interesting to me.
    Don’t think it’s a done deal yet that he’s gone. He’s still raw and not ready for much more than a league one club unless he wants to sit but how can he get better on the bench? He has a great opportunity here to play and get more exposure than anywhere else unless he’s the number 1.
    Hopefully he stays but I trust Parky and staff will find someone just as good.

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone
      @WrexhamAFCfanzone  Před 23 dny +2

      It could be he's just keeping everyone guessing and will return next season but I don't know how confident I feel about it. If we could offer him a short contract with a clause to let him leave if we don't get promoted it could work.

    • @jph418
      @jph418 Před 23 dny +2

      @@WrexhamAFCfanzone who knows but if you look at the whole quote, he talks about “then everyone is happy”. That leads me to believe that we are still very much in it and that he himself is in fact happy here, as he’s part of the ‘everyone’. I hope he’s not someone who’s all about the money as a lot of athletes can be. He’s young enough that if he were to take a little less to stay in a place where he knows he will be the number one, a place that he knows he is loved by the fans, a place with owners who will get him more exposure than anywhere else, and a place where he indicates that he is happy then it’s a win for all. But again, not the end of the world if he goes as Parky has proven he can build a squad.

      He's very reserved, softly spoken and you would not imagine him to have a Porsche but he does. I was admiring it after the match one day and he was telling me all about the engine, speed and wheels. When he revved off I thought he had a dual personality LOL I hope you are right and there's more to what he;'s said. Did you know his brother Brian is also a goal keeper, he was with Arsenal too but I think he's gone somewhere else now.

      @@WrexhamAFCfanzone that’s good info!! I did know about his brother, Brian I think. He’s only 18 and was on loan last year to a non league club but not sure about upcoming season. Don’t think Parky would go for someone that young but who knows what the future holds. And what about McNicholas? They signed him for a couple more years too so maybe Howard starts and Luke comes on? Be interesting to see but I hope you see that Porsche again in August!!

    If any PL club or top European club gives him an offer that would give him even a second or a third-choice keeper, or a club in the championship league that has a good chance of going up next season offer him a first-choice or even second choice goalkeeper, he would take them in a heart bit, regardless of what he thinks about Wrexham, we can't offer that kind of money/exposer to him. but any other offer from championship level and below, he would be way better off staying with us and he will.

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone
      @WrexhamAFCfanzone  Před 23 dny +3

      I know money will be important to him but I do think its pointless him going to a club if he never gets to play. At least at Wrexham he will be first choice and will get a good wage , maybe not as much as some would pay though. We have every chance of getting promoted next year and he gets good world wide exposure here. He is a London boy though so might want to return to london, especially if QPR are going to make a move.

      @@WrexhamAFCfanzone The money difference between what wrexham can legally pay him and what PL or other top europian teams can pay him is high, also being third or second choice in big clubs is not that bad, he would stay have play time. you say world wide exposed, but that's not the exposed I was talking about, what gets a player to grow in talent is being able to play at certain levels, that's the exposed top league clubs can give him, which Wrexham can't yet, so I would stand by my original statement, in regard to him. also as a side note, just the fact he said he enjoyed and not enjoy, as in past tense, I have a feeling he already know where he's going to go, and it's not Wrexham.

    Arthur's key role in securing promotion once more is well documented.
    We now have a settled and strong defence crucial for League 1 survival and further progression.
    The powers at be should do everything they can to preserve this by offering him an attractive package where he would be the first choice goalkeeper and the opportunity of being part of further promotion next season.
    Hopefully, he will realise what a special and unique place Wrexham is and this will be a key deciding factor for him staying.

      We have the two younger goalies, Liam Hall and Luke McNicholas. I don't have faith in Mark Howard to do the job we need in league one. We need to sign a high calibre keeper, younger than Mark, if Arthur goes.

    • @EverGameStudios
      @EverGameStudios Před 23 dny +2

      we have more goal keepers than just Howard, also we had to lose Lainton, he's just a weight on our budget, in the three years he was with us, he barley played because he keeps getting injured. not blaming him or saying it's his fault, but our first/second choice keepers should be ones we can rely on to play, and not play a couple of games than be out for the rest of the season.
      Also, while I don't agree with you saying Howard is unfit for league 1, I still think we should of remove him as a player and offer him a goalkeeping coach job.

      question for you btw, any rumers about our kit manufactures? i know our current one contract is over this season, any words you hear about us making another contract or switching to a different brand? ( hoping for Nikey or adidas)

    I'd hope if he signs for a PL team as 2nd or 3rd choice GK, they would loan him back out to us. However, ideally the best option for us is R&R open the pocketbook and offer him top wages. It's not out of the realm of possibility either, as there are plenty of players in L1 who are paid very well.

    • @WrexhamAFCfanzone

      @EverGameStudios Před 23 dny +2

      2nd/3rd choice goal keepers don't go out on loans. Also it's not about the owner bank accounts, there's regulations about how much we are allowed to pay for players in accordensee to what the club bring in, Ryan can't just say well I make 10 million a year, I'll give him 5 million a year than, it doesn't work like that.

      @kenbareilles2794 Před 20 dny +1

      This is an interesting point, a team that wants him as 4th choice GK, with an eye toward him moving up to 2nd in a few years, could offer him a larger contract, and then offer him to Wrexham on a League One loan at a cost of around 300000 quid. That allows Arthur to continue his development path faster than training with no game play.
