The Non-Canon Expert looks at why Darth Bane would've never trained Anakin Skywalker as his Sith Apprentice like Darth Sidious did!

Bane's philosophy certainly would have applied to taking anyone else as an apprentice. 'The Chosen One,' however, was too valuable to pass up. Even if Sidious believed himself to be the Final Sith, and didn't believe in either the Sith or Jedi Prophecies; he couldn't deny Anakin's raw potential, nor could he deny snatching whatever hope the Jedi might have put in him as their 'Chosen One.' But, since the Jedi had discovered this child first, it displayed Sidious' cunning that he foresaw a way of twisting a Jedi upbringing to his, and the Sith's, advantage.
You do express a valid point. What better way to cause the downfall of the Jedi Order than by slowly corrupting a youngling they believe to be “the Chosen One”? I do believe Lord Bane would see the joy in such a plan, however, with how calculating he is, Lord Bane would’ve either prepare for the confrontation against the Jedi’s Chosen One himself or doing so while training Darth Zannah for her eventual duel against Skywalker. A sith master must always be prepared for the inevitable betrayal of their apprentice to prove whether or not they were worthy of being a student of the dark side and graduate to the rank of sith master. While the sith grand plan did ultimately come to fruition, the intended way for it to happen as Darth Bane had written in the Rule of Two Doctrine instead of how Plagueis killed his master by using the force to crush Darth Tenebrous under the roof of a cave for example, I have no doubt the Sith would’ve been much more powerful and that Skywalker would’ve lost. But this is my opinion.

Vader was always to thoughtful about his past life, he just couldn't let go of those memories or how things used to be, the Emperor had to keep that in check most of the time and knew it was always going to be a problem. Bane however would not have put up with these distractions as Bane had moved on from his previous life and never let it slow him down or get in the way of the rule of two, and Bane put far too much effort and sacrifice into creating the new order he would never risk having an apprentice who was so distracted by his past risk ruining the future of his plans so he would have dispatched or replaced Vader as soon as possible and realize the danger Vader could be if he was left as his Apprentice and Bane would never let anything get in the way of his grand vision of the rule of two and the ultimate revenge of the sith...
Meh, Bane's rule of Two would've ended had Zannah not did what she did. He, like Palpatine, wouldn't accept death and wanted to live forever

Bane could relate to him than Sidious could.m, in terms of having a past life to cut off attachment to. Sidious never really had that. His Sith persona and his public self were 2 sides of the same coin, unlike most Sith before him who had adopted the title after renouncing their past lives. Palpatine was basically already a Sith before he ever adopted the Darth title, in terms of his mindset and attitude towards life. Becoming a Sith Lord was just a next natural step for him once he discovered his force sensitivity.
Bane on the other hand, had to give up his life as Des, had to learn to disregard his attachments and forget where he came from. This is where I thinkhe could've helped Vader overcome his conflict in ways Sidious couldn't understand.
Now whether Bane would WANT to help is a different story. I could see why he might see that as a waste of time

I think the big difference here is Sidious saw himself as the last Sith. No more would they need to hide in the shadows and instead dominate the galaxy. It makes sense since all of his past apprentices were disposable and where just a means to an end. Vader was more symbolic, as corrupting a Jedi would be the finally middle finger to the order that lead to the extinction of the Sith.
Sidious was the most 'selfish' of the entire Sith order I think, I don't think he cared or respected any sith that came before him, as far as he's concerned he is the Sith chosen one and that's that

One Jedi that went down the dark path and never came back, Exar Kun. He was brought deep into the dark side and shed all sources of light.
I would agree with bane. Former jedi who turn sith generally are more focused on proving something to the jedi order rather than diving into the dark side because of simple lust for power.

Bane almost certainly would have at least considered making an exception to his rule when it came to Anakin. Although if he had decided to train him I get the feeling he would have approached the situation much differently, probably separating him from the Jedi at a younger age, or something to that effect.

I would love to see this myself as well. However, I don’t think it would be much of a contest. When reading the first few chapters of the Dynasty of Evil, it was stated that while Darth Bane was practicing his drills in Form III, he moved so fast that not a single drop of rain touched him during his training. With how patient and cunning Bane was, Skywalker wouldn’t stand a chance. If he couldn’t beat Kenobi after being dubbed Darth Vader, I don’t see him winning against Bane. Bane would simply toy with Skywalker and use the latter’s impatience to his advantage. Could Anakin’s raw potential give him an edge against Lord Bane? Absolutely, but in the end, it wouldn’t be enough to secure the win.
@@notimeleft1Kenobis form 3 was described as a omni directional shield that could hold off countless destroyers,b2s. Anakin was almost as good as Kenobi and his form 5 was tailored to use his right arm to smash his opponent's defence.
Kenobi on Mustafar had to block, parry and out manoeuvre Vader because of the sheer force behind his form 5. I dont think Bane was as good as Kenobi with a lightsaber.
By the time of Plagueis, Bane's plan failed because he and Sidious saw the Rule of Two as outdated.
Sidious could care less about future generations of Sith. He only obeyed the tenets of Bane's Rule that served him, such as eliminating rivals like Maul and keeping the Inquisitorius weak. He never intended to be replaced by Vader.
Anakin appeared as the perfect candidate for apprenticeship. Palpatine was positioned to spend years manipulating him, inflating Anakin's pride and ego. The boy's personality meant he was also the perfect key to destroy the Jedi from within.

But Starkiller was trained as a sith apprentice by Darth Vader since he was a small boy. Starkiller still eventually turned to the light side of the force. This clearly shows that it does not matter as much as we think what conditions you grow up in. You will eventually just chose your own path regardless of where you were grown up to believe for some cases. I think Darth Bane missed that part. Some people are just very flexible.
Starkiller had a Jedi father though who might have started the basic training to a very limited degree, so it applies at least in a small way.

Also I would say that if Starkiller did remember a little more about his father than we currently know, I think such things will be dominated by 20+ years of Vader’s training and influence. So I dont think it matters that much. The fundimental thing was just that Starkiller was just not a bad guy. So he eventually turned to the light side.
True, but Bane couldn't understand parenting since he had no real person who cared about him. Palpatine at least had Naboo children around him with families. Even the other miners on Apatros probably still focused on work. Love probably took a backseat to all on Apatros so when Bane was turning Zannah, he genuinely thought it was superior.

The mention of Darth Revan at the end does bring an interesting counterpoint to mind...
Because everything Darth Bane said about wanting to avoid training force sensitives who had already been trained by the Jedi makes sense... Until you realize that Bane created the rule of two from Revans teachings... Who was originally a Jedi before joining the sith, then turning against the sith in a way that really does mirror Anikin in a lot of ways...

Sidius just didn't want to train a child. It would require too much attention and self sacrifice. By letting Anakin be trained by the flawed Jedi, he could freely play the distant father figure and simultaneously arrange for traumatic situations that would eventually corrupt Anakin.

Since when was Vader trained as a Sith? As far as I know he was just Palpatines enforcer and Palpatine kept all of the knowledge to himself, thats also why he wanted to become immortal so he can rule forever and doesnt need the rule of 2.

Siddious should have maipulated Padme into having Anakins kids, then kidnapped the twins. Train them both in the Dark Side until they were powerful enough then have them fight to the death to be his apprentice. While this was happening he could kill Anakin and Padme in a manner similar to how he killed his own parents.

I think both Bane and Sidious were right about Anakin. Bane was right as pointed out in this video, but Sidious was also right when he noted Anakin's rebellious nature meant the if he tried to train him before the Jedi, then he would rebel against the Sith.

I think the only point he would've taken Anakin as an apprentice, would be if he found him on Tatooine before the Jedi, and even then, hed probably already have someone like Maul, or whomever else; probably just kill him to deprive the Jedi.
As to how they would deal with a Jedi order in the latter days of the Republic, hard to tell imo

Perhaps the force knew Sidious and Plageius would be too tempted as not to take Anakin under the control. And then made sure a Jedi would find Anakin so he would be trained, and have that very base within themselves, for when they turned.
I imagine Sidious would be so arrogant, and he thought to wipe away the core of Anakin from Vader, after he had turned him, one way or another, which proved his undoing

I do agree that Bane would have a policy against taking on former Jedi as apprentices, but I could also see Sidious convincing him of how he could twist Anakin to the dark side and that he was too great a prize for the Sith to pass up. Awesome video!

Bane is many things, pragmatic being the most well known trait of Bane, he sees a man in Anakin that's gone through similar shit and understands that an apprentice needs to respect their master in the beginning, so why wouldn't he help Anakin/Vader through his difficulties in life, I see the partnership working well.

I have a serious question that has been bugging me for awhile now and I haven’t seen any theory Chanel’s exploring this question…
Why did Obi Wan start training Luke on the falcon right there infront of Han and Chewbacca? If being a Jedi was illegal and there was a galactic wide bounty on surviving Jedi doesn’t it seem kinda Dumb for Obi Wan to start explaining the force and to reach out and sense blaster deflection right in front of Two strapped for cash smugglers? Why would someone as smart as Obi Wan risk the exposure he could have waited till Luke and him were alone to start training him. (And I know Obi Wan just turns around and dies but he didn’t know that was going to happen at the time.)

I guess Han and Chewie are not on good terms/ not super trusting of the empire and Obi-Wan thought it was probably save. Plus he had just cut a guys arm off so maybe he wasn't too worried about them turning on him?

I think the whole concept of falling to the dark side is an issue with former Jedi. Jedi are taught to abandon their ego, control their emotions, and surrender themselves to the Force as an empty vessel to be filled with its will. They tend to become unstable because joining the dark side confronts them with a whole slew of emotions they never learned to deal with properly. Anakin's case, im particular, is an example of this because, at least to my knowledge, he was never treated for the trauma he undoubtedly suffered as a slave. The Jedi told him to let go, Palpatine just exploited it to manipulate him.
Characters like Revan and Dooku were Jedi who accepted the Dark Side of their own volition as necessary to achieve their aims; there were outside influences surrounding them, yes, but ultimately it was their own choices (i am ignoring Vitiate brainwashing Revan and Malak on purpose because it cheapened their character arcs and contradicted previously established lore). They were exceptional even among fallen Jedi. On the other hand, Bane, Zannah, Plagueis and most Sith of their order were taught the dark side exclusively. They have a completely different relationship to it, and did not have to overcome Jedi teachings.

Bane has a point as a lot of former Jedi who turned sith, ended up being turned back to the light by loved ones with Ulic que droma Revan, Anakin all falling into that bracket. So can see why Bane would want untrained and untainted candidates only to be trained to be sith.

Ok the book of Sith clearly contradicts the actual Darth Bane novels and honestly I HATE it. First Darth Bane himself chose his apprentice Zannath WHO WAS A JEDI PADAWN so whoever wrote the book of the Sith irl clearly didnt do their homework. Second Bane would never give advice to Sidious because Sidious flat out broke the Rule of Two. Bane clearly states that the Sith must you every tactic and dirty trick to defeat their enemies EXCEPT for when the apprentice challenges the master. He expressly mentions not using poison or any other "tricks" in this matter and that it MUST be a pure contest of power to ensure that each Sith master is in fact stronger then the last. THAT is the entire idea behind the Rule of Two, as much as people seem to want to say Palpatine was this ultimate Sith and more powerful then any Sith before him, that is in fact a complete falsehood. Palpatine was SCARED of facing Plagues in direct combat even with all his power and resorted to poison to kill Plagues. He broke the Rule of Two and while he ALMOST destroyed the Jedi he failed. As my old Drill Sgt used to say close only counts with horsehoes and handgrenades. He was SCARED to face Plagues 1 on 1 and because he was scared he was always doomed to fail the Sith and wasnt a true Rule of Two Sith.
Zannah was barely a Jedi padawan since she fell off the ship mere days after being taken. Next, the Jedi killing Lah severed those bonds. As for the rule of two, I love Plagueis but that is my frustration with him and his ilk. They ignore the key to the rule of two. The Plagueis novel admits that few Sith went straight up because I'm not risking my life or watching you become emperor with me as second. The dark side pushes the will of the original so Sith value their own lives above everything else. I think Bane was different because he was dark his whole life. Also mining on Apatros taught him to work hard for what he wanted and needed and not to care about wealth when hard work could get you through. Bane's change didn't change him that much. He barely beat on a helpless person accept when it was needed to save his own life and that of the Sith order. The Book of Sith also calls Darovit Zannahs brother when he is a cousin.
No mention of Dooku also being a former Jedi? It's not like Sidious only did it once

Both Sidious and Bane are definitely dangerous Sith Lords, but Sidious was just too overconfident and his own pride became his downfall, Bane actually was not arrogant or prideful on that one; I would say that Darth Bane would be the better Sith between the two because Bane isn't letting overconfidence get in the way and he doesn't mess around at all while remaining composed.

How Bane would have trained "The Chosen One:"
Sidious knew about Anakin long before he was discovered by the Jedi. He was lazy, permitting the Jedi to train *The Chosen One.* If Bane knew about Anakin, he would've found and trained him as his apprentice.
Ultimately, he would have taken Anakin as an apprentice long before he was *corrupted.* You must see it. 😉

If the Sith had continued the teachings of Darth Bane as he had instructed while teaching Darth Zannah the ways of the dark side, I do believe that Anakin Skywalker would’ve either ended the reign of the Sith at the cost of his own life or out right die while dueling the Sith. Yes the sith grand plan did ultimately come to pass, however, because they have strayed from how the apprentice must challenge their master for the position of Sith Master, I believe the Sith had slowly grew weaker over time. Had they followed Darth Bane’s teachings as he intended the Sith to do so, the downfall of the Jedi might have been much more impactful than corrupting the Jedi’s Chosen One.

The only way Bane would've considered training Anakin is if he found Anakin before Anakin had *any* interaction or training with the Jedi. Even then, Bane would be hesitant due to Anakin having strong dark *and* light
