They used to take 10 minutes to get to ringside, talk for 10 minutes, then spend 10 minutes strutting around the ring while Tony and everyone else commentated... 30 minutes of wrestling action without there even being a match... and I loved EVERY minute of it.
Seriously. And the matches themselves? Most of them were meh at best. Yet STILL as you said every minute was GOLD. I was captivated by this stuff. I'm talking mostly about the original May 96 - probably about Starrcade 97 run. These guys had so much charisma. The angle was so new. Shit felt REAL. They were cool Heels in a way that had never been done before or since. It was fun cheering them. It was fun booing them when they did dastardly things after all they were total scumbags at the end of the day lol. You never knew what was going to happen. What they were going to do. Who was going to jump shit to the nWo. It was thrilling to see WCW score a rare victory. Most nowadays criticizes how dominant the nWo were but for the first year or two that's what made it so cool! When WCW finally got a win it MEANT something. Every single week there were serious stakes at hand. I'd argue nothing since the original nWo angle has felt as epic or cool. Sorry for the wall of text lol

Those days, in that time range that you stated, was the zenith of wrestling for me. No shade on the current superstars today, but my subconscious always wishes I was back watching it again. My very soul can't help but compare. Again, no shade against the superstars today, but there was nothing like it, and I dunno if anything like that could ever be done again.
And now we have nothing but matches. Spotfests, false finishes, flips and kicks, and moves that don't even connect. Look how much they complained about the long 10 minute promos, when most of us would love for it to go back the way it once was. This was pro wrestling at its peak

I really miss the WWE attitude era but I also really miss WCW/NWO because if it wasn’t for them the attitude era would have never happened. These guys created the Monday night wars and had me changing the channel from USA to TNT every 5 minutes on a Monday night.
I was in college at the time and in my apartment I shared with a couple other guys, we had 3 TV's running on Monday night. One had RAW, one had Nitro, and one had MNF.
