Anita Baker did her thing. I flew in town to watch her perform, in the rain and cold all for 2hrs w struggle kitten heels! 👏🏽👑 Love Anita and she did not disappoint. She was playful yet honest. But that’s just my experience.
There are no cheap seats for any concert these days. Concerts can take its toll on artists but they should be required to be up for the task.
I was there. This story has been spun so many times. She told security to help them out they were lost trying to find their seats which were on the 2nd row. They laughed we all laughed. As far as the pictures it was press and it was flashing directly in her eyes. No one was removed from the center. 🤦🏿♀️

Thank you. I flew in from out of state to see her and she did not disappoint. Anita Baker started late bc everyone ✋🏾was late due to a storm! But she performed for 2 straight hours in kitten 👠! Don’t believe everything you hear bc that’s hearsay.

I worked security for her, the brief interaction I had with her was extremely pleasant, I only saw her interact with male security guards but it was “sir” when she addressed us. There was no bad attitude or rudeness to be seen even at 2am after the show when she was saying her goodbyes.
She's had a decades long reputation for being difficult. I saw her the next night in Dallas. She was an hour late but no rudeness on stage. Her p.r. team must've intervened.
And she did apologize for the late start and she did perform past 11pm
i was there in Dallas, i got there 45 minutes late so I was happy she was late too.

I've gone to a Lalah Hathaway concert and she asked the audience to do the same thing- do not record!! She simply stated she wanted the audience to see the performance and truly enjoy it. On her last song she stared the audience could now record. She just wanted them to truly enjoy the concert!!
Who is Lalah Hathaway?
They don't want you to record because it will be uploaded for everyone to see. Some people will watch and not buy a ticket hence they will lose money. She could careless about your experience and more about her pockets.

I do remember when i went to one of her concerts few years back. Everyone had there phones out. She said "you guys going to miss the moment with your phones."

I seen Anita Baker in 2019 in Miami Gardens Florida and she was awesome amazing !! Anita sound better than her albums live no studio. She had just came back on tour. When I seen her in 2023 for Mothers Day Baltimore concert she was complaining about the mics and sound system. No problems when Babyface was on stage but as soon as Anita step foot on stage the mics went out!! And I agree people pay good money to hear her sing live and if the sound system is terrible you can’t enjoy the concert. So Anita the diva had every right to complain because she is a professional singer that wants to give you a good performance and your money worth of entertainment. I live Anita and if she has a bad attitude well than we all have bad days! 65 and still have a fantastic voice is a gift and a blessing.

I’m from Detroit where Anita is from. I met her 2005 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, while working at Wendy’s. She was rude and constantly making promises about autographs she never produced until I checked her politely. I love her but she’s too much‼️

As someone who gies to concerts. I agree totally. I get getting a a little bit to remember but I watch people be on live for a damn near a whole show and the camera barely turns towards the artist. It's just too much. Monica kicked someone out of a show we saw in D.C. because she was wilding. Lol. Monica said she's singing about love not knuck if you buck 😂😂😂had the girl escorted out then said buy her another dink on me.

Anita Baker did not take a 20 year hiatus!! She had her retirement tour, and just a few years later, came back.
That's why Bruno Mars has a "No Cell Phone" policy at many of his concerts. He wants you to come party with him not come to record him.

Regardless if the flash, she has people who love her voice and spend money to see her perform. There is never a reason to be rude no matter what era she comes from, it’s concert. There are a lot of legacies but never a reason when people are supporting you to be rude period.
At the beginning of both shows I've been to she gives the option to record but ask that the flash be off bc it's distracting

Anita Baker Is not the only one who gets terriblly upset when they ask sudience to PLEASE TURN OFF THE CAMERAS. The flashing lights are distracting!!!!!!!!! Some of her songs are among my favorites such as the collaboration with Babyface, but I am not even a fan as such of Anita because I can't concentrate that deep even though it IS GOOD MUSIC QUALITY, BUT I do appreciate her for the ARTIST she proves to be.
The reason I agree so. strongly with Anita aboit light flashing and understand why the anmoyance is because I am effected by the bright lighting in mall settings.
We saw her in Oakland California Dec 23,2023, she started the show 40 minutes late, but she stayed an hour over. She allowed a young lady up on stage to take a picture with her. She also allowed several people to approach her carrying flowers. She showed the Oakland audience nothing but love. It was our first time seeing her. One hella of a show, this woman sung her butt off. They even set up a stage and the other end of the arena. She sang a song down there also. That was one classy act. Our money was well spent.

One thing Black Culture does need to keep in mind is integrity for our Legends...we are always talking about wellness awareness amongst our ppl but we dnt walk our talk when it come to keeping our platforms as integral examples for how we as a ppl should be honoring, uplifting and speaking life-giving words over eachother. Anita Baker is a Black Vocal Icon who's music will stand the test of time. It is very demanding to be famous for even a second, let alone decades. She deserves the comforts she requests, to be at her very best for us, for herself and for her vocal legacy.

Funky, I have gone to see Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and Gladys Knight in concert multiple times. All are from the same era as Baker. None of these legends have and would never behave as unprofessional as Anita Baker. Anita is just simply a mean person and thank God this is a farewell tour because she needs to be gone.

The stage management needs to give the house manager guidance on if there can be any photos, recording during her shows. If she is still old school and gets distracted by the flash, PLEASE put that information out in advance before the show starts. I volunteer at performing arts theaters and the house manager lets us know what the rules are and it is posted in the lobby also. Now how is she talking to the audience when relating the info SOMETIMES IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY BUT THE DELIVERY. I saw Anita Baker in Atlanta at the Fox Theater and she was amazing.

I really don’t like seeing these stories about Anita Baker. I grew up listening to her music and I went to one of her concerts in the early 2000s in Chicago and it was a great experience. She took requests from the audience and if the band wasn’t prepared to play what was requested, she sung it acapella. It felt like a family reunion. I don’t know what she is going through now, but I hope she is ok and she gets it together.

It’s got to be something more to this story.. I went to her concert at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, the day before thanksgiving. I was literally a few rows from the front row. It was a lot of ppl recording and taking pics. I was one of them. She never told anyone don’t take pics or stop recording her. The concert was okay, she was 2 hours late. I expected her to sings most of her hit songs, she didn’t sing too many of any of her songs. So she say, “it was bc of audio issues.” It sounded fine to me, but I’m no audio expert.
The audience, should have collectivley booed her..i ❤ Anita..but no.. Q, please stop !!..i saw Anita 3 years ago and prior to that..She is fully aware of cell phones...

She was not gone 20 years. She was gone about 10 to raise her boys and care for family. Rhythm of Love in 1994, and then “My Everything” was released in 2004… and she’s been touring and performing live since then. Some of the best footage out there is of her Radio City in 2012 and can be found right here on CZcams. Fact check before you spew nonsense!
