A few years ago I made the trip from Adelaide in South Australia, (Where I live), to Cairns in Northern Queensland to escape the winter cold. I was in my late sixties at the time. I stayed in a backpackers hostel in Cairns, which was full of young people from all over the world. Almost all of them were on working tourist visas. The hostel had shared cooking and eating facilities, and all of the younger hostel guests insisted that I was not to cook for myself. They cooked for me, which was great. I was treated to French, Spanish, Danish, German, Irish, English and Brazilian home style dishes. It was one of the best holidays I ever had.
Another awesome reaction with a lot of good comments from you as always. I'm from Sydney Australia and I love watching people learn more about this beautiful country 🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😁
If you enjoyed learning about travelling Australia, check out some more videos. There are some great ones out there.
As for Byron, I live in the local area and the reason people are commenting about not going there is because it was once a very different place that was an attractive place to visit, and we remember what it used to be like. In saying that, the local area is gorgeous and still worth visiting, but don't bother attempting to stay in Byron Bay itself as it is a tourist trap when it comes to the accommodation costs in particular. So many beautiful places nearby
Don't expect to escape the cold by going inland in winter. The winter nights can get VERY cold there, well below freezing at times. Also remember that Australia has ski fields in the southern mountains in NSW and Victoria with rare snow falls up as far as southern Queensland.
People like their drinks. Cheap Australian wine is palatable.
Buses are the alternative if you are on a budget AND you can see the country as you are driven through.
The rainforests are beautiful.
The Great Barrier Reef and the vast countryside around the tropics by the sea are wonderful.
But very few overseas tourists see this part of the country.
THE FLINDERS RANGES in South Australia.
Utterly underrated. Utterly beautiful. Utterly magical and utterly Australian.
Whether you travel through the surrounding settled farming country from Adelaide to the wilds of the outback.
Don't bother going north and getting ripped off by the tourist traps, go south down the south coast and see the true coastal life.
Hope you enjoy yourself if you head over. As an extra encouragement to stay longer, do remember the time and money costs to get here (there is a reason Aussies tend to stay a while when they get to Europe).
Nice reaction and I have to say your English is very good!
A lot of back packers buy a cheap second hand hatch back or van. They then abandon them at the side of a road or the airport car park on departing. No worries about parking fines. You'll be 100's or 1k klms away in another state before the payment is due. I used to know an area in Melbourne, with a lot of back packer accommodation, where a lot of abandoned cars with multi-pal parking tickets under the wipers.
If you are a trained Basketball, Cricket, Rugby etc umpire there's good money to be made. It's legally not taxed.
Heres a fun fact, both Spain and Australia are ruled by the same zodiac sign, Sagittarius.
I remember reading a vlog by the Australian Tourism Industry and some of the funny emails they get.
One Italian guy asked if they had any suggestions as he was going to walk from Sydney to Perth?
Australian Tourism replied: Make sure you take plenty of water 🤣
An English women asked if she should bring a knife and folk on her holiday to Australia?
Australian Tourism replied: Don't bother just eat with your hands like we do 🤣
I'm from Adelaide our climate would be very similar to yours as we are temperate zone
Summers are very hot
But winter can be cool to cold in winter as we get wind from south pole
Just remember our seasons are different from yours almost the opposite
As we are on the otherside of the equator
This guy forget to mention south Australia, this is where i live, also lot's to hear too.
I'm Australian so you understand, Byron is a dump, I have friends there and when I visit I can't wait to get out.
Iv'e lived here all my life and sorry but Byron Bay is WAY overrated. there are much better alternatives .. and cheaper.
Byron lost it's charm in the 90's.
This guy seems fixated on Byron Bay and Queensland. Speaks very little of what really is there ,which is a great deal more to Australia. I’m thinking he is from UK,so probably only goes to see surf and sun. Would recommend seeking other sources of information for your trip if you want the best time. The fact that he leads with goon and alcohol says it all I think. Be hungover all the time, have a great time. PS. Not everyone calls it goon, must be a Byron thing.
Its probably a age thing in the 70s yes I'm that old Byron was a good place and Brisbane was small I was born in Sydney Cheers
ummm what the heck is he calling a wine cask a goon? never heard that one before. Crikey.
We call them cask wine not "goons"
if you have time look up kings canyon
After watching this guy sell our wonderful country, when are you coming over?
