IMO, Britain's greatest ever Soul Singer (with a nod to Dusty Springfield) but also, like Springfield totally versatile. And, having seen her a few times on the Wright Stuff years ago, she also comes across as a totally decent human being.

@@chrisst8922 It was more that Parlophone tried to mold her into a popstar and Affirmation (the album CAYA comes from) was a departure from the R&B/soul she had spent the previous ten years working on. Evolving as an artist is key to maintaining interest but the change was fabricated by her record label (Beverley has spoken before about the grievances she had with her previous label).
Ask any Beverley Knight fan what their favourite BK album is and I guarantee you almost none will mention Affirmation. Come As You Are is a nice pop song but it isn't special amongst BK repertoire.

I went to research if Mr. Kravitz had in fact wrote this for her - no intention of doubting Mrs. Knight's songwriting expertise at all but it DOES sound SO Kravitz indeed! Oh - he didn't either not from what I found anyways. Very clever Psychadelic Rock song with Gospel blended into the middle so expertly - you barely notice - . I know this will go against her normal fanbase, but she's a very capable rock singer!

Could it be that Lenny Kravitz's video of "Are You Going My Way" is just a ripoff of this original? It even uses the same drumbeat and Lenny has the same guitar. Conspiracy? Tinfoil hat? I don't think so!
