Where did you both live?? I fell instantly in love with Scotland while on a high school trip in the 90s that also included England, Wales & Ireland and that trip is the reason I'm an early medieval historian. As an American we were (maybe still are) taught our history begins in 1620 with the Mayflower so to see 1000 yrs of history everywhere we went was amazing...although we were in Ireland on April 10, 1998 when modern history was made - the Good Fri Agreement was signed

April showers bring May flowers, right? I guess that's why we celebrate Walpurgisnacht. That, hopefully, should be the REAL return of light to the world.
It's just, the Wheel of the Year has all these feasts and observances that are supposed to be about the return of light, but it's grey and gloomy for months yet.

I love this! What a gorgeous scene! I want to give her a raincoat or umbrella, though! LOL! Maybe she doesn't need one: she's magic! I love the rain sound, the lapping of the water, the occasional birdsong... the fluctuation in sounds.

It's actually full of water; she's been sitting out there long enough to let the rain fill it, and she mostly closed the lid so it wouldn't keep filling and overflow (but left it open a bit so the water wouldn't get stagnant.) You can see the water line just below the bottom ring on the metal fastener.
Gorgeous and relaxing. Although someone should eventually tell that poor girl that all that rainwater she’s soaking up is bound to give her the flu or worse
A HS trip to Scotland in the 90s is the reason I'm an early medieval historian and though my focus is post-Roman/Anglo-Saxon Britian, Scotland, especially its medieval period, remains a huge interest of mine. Seeing 1000 yrs of history throughout this trip, which also included England, Wales and Ireland (were there when the Good Fri Agreement was signed) sparked my love of British history, which, as an American, was staggering since we were (maybe still are) taught that our history essentially starts in 1620 with the Mayflower landing. Thank you, Dean, for bringing back some great memories! I'm especially impressed with how well that candle is staying lit in the rain 😁
