Roland GR-55 Real-World Sounds Demo (Full)

- This video is a demo of what we like to call real-world sounds. In other words, sounds that are straight out of the box or have only had minor alterations that can be used immediately. Of course, this unit will get as extravagant as you desire, and the sky is the limit with tone possibilities. And because of the enormous amount of sounds possible with this machine, this demo is just the beginning of what this unit has to offer.

Yours is the best demo of this unit I have seen on youtube. thanks so much
Thank you. Just the demonstration I was hoping to see. You really have talent. Thanks again.
FANTASTIC DEMO!!!! Great playing plus fine usable sound!!!!!
As many have said, this was the best demo of the units I've seen, and I've watched a ton.
Thank you for the kind words!
Nice chops - very tasteful, and it's wonderful to see somebody on here demo a product's abilities instead of their own.
The best demo I have ever seen .... great playing and I especially appreciate "no messing with the sound" approach you used. I think I am going to get one of these ....
Thank you for getting right into it without all the usual intro mess. Excellent video!!! Thank you!!!
Great demo, James, one of the best I've seen on the GR-55! And great guitar work there, mate! I'm thinking on purchasing one myself, hence my viewing these demos. I really enjoyed it, cheers!
Very nice demo. After watching dozens of vids on the GR55, this is the best so far. Great playing Mr Guitarman!!
Nice Job! Really liked the quick moves from patches and great tone vs playing choices for the different sounds. :)
Your footnotes are very instructive. Thank you!
Great job! Your playing shines through
Straight forward, good quality demo. I’ve owned one since they came out. But you opened my eyes (ears) to just how good this product is.
Thank you!
Nice demo. Tasty playing. Kudos.
Thanks for this great video. I particularly enjoyed the Marshall Tucker flute quote. Of course much of the great sound in each patch comes from what you're playing and how you're playing it. You've got talent dude.
+David Ziffer Thank you for your kind comments!
Opens up a whole new world for true artist like your self. Thanks for sharing a great demo. You have great touch. One man band is possible, that gives you goose bumps. Gotta get one.
This is an excellent demo. As an owner of many Roland devices (including a GR-1), I have to say this thing is by far the most usable unit for a real world application a guitarist going for accuracy in sound can hope for. The acoustic guitar models sound good, warm and not too cheesy as I was expecting. I like the small footprint also.
best demo ever oמ YT of the GR55!!! Good Job and great playing in each style of instrument!
Good stuff man--very tasteful use of what this thing has to offer for those of us pondering, but on the fence.
Excellent to the point video and brilliant playing.
Thank you!
AandSMusicInc maybe I missed it but what type of amp and cabinet are using.....sounds great
Cool Mister, Beautiful Sound' I like it, Thanks For Demo Roland GR 55👍👌
Great demo. It's straightforward and to the point giving a sample of some of the sounds that are useable and easily accessed. It would take an enormous amount of time to get into all its' sound possibilities. What you give in well under 10 minutes is enough to get a good idea of what the unit can do without too much fuss. Thanks, well done.
+Glenn Michael Thompson Thank you for your kind comment!
This man explained what no one did so far.. sound by sound... Patch by patch. Thanks... Helped me a lot!!! 💪
Nice presentation of different sounds from this pedal!
Still don't know which I will buy but this was nice to see and hear.
Wow, excellent demo! many thanks!
First of the GR-55 sound demos where every sound is usable. Nice work.
Just what I thought!
Thank you!
I hate complicated guitar gadgets but A) I think I've advanced enough for one of these now and B) Each setting does sound amazing!
Excellent demo ! Bravo !!!
Great demo musician - really knows his stuff
Easily the best demo by far. Thanks !!
Best GR55 demo ever. Shows what IT can do NOT what the guitarist can-though he is a great player. I've had one before -I'm buying another now.
I just did the same thing I owned the early version in blue and now 10 years later I picked up a black version it is so much fun making music and being creative on this thing.
@@steveclark9934
Is there any difference between de blue one and the black version?
@@bluesyjazzer1156 zero difference as far as Hardware is concerned the black one came with a more recent firmware update with extra patches when it was released however the blue one can easily be updated to the latest firmware which includes those patches.
Best video about gr55 on all youtube!
Well done great demo,, thanks done well
great video. informative. great chops that showcase the possibilities.
Thank you for your kind comments!
Roland should hire you to do their demos for this - musical, fun and the kind of thing people actually would want to play. They should have hired you to do the patch sets for this unit!
It is a very terrific Sound Machine ¡¡¡ I want one of these. Well done by Roland, bravissimo ¡¡¡
Thanks for going through many of the sounds, might have to dump the Ax8 for one of these! SOOO many sounds, so little time...
Now I'm even MORE excited about making this purchase from our friends at Sweetwater...
... Now the hard part - waiting for the delivery!
Very nice and super useful demo. I ordered one of these bad boys this week, to add some keys to our rock band. Nice work!
Awesome sound and video.
THIS is how all stores should show products. GEAT JOB.
Fantastic demo.
Thank you for the kind words!
Great vid , much appreciated bro
excellent demo
Really excellent no nonsens video. salutations fine sir for this helpful upload!
I played in a 6 piece guitar, keys, bass, sax n drums. I took it to the gig and played organ and brass sounds, which sounded great, but at the break the vocalist had to save me from the other players trying to stick the GR55 where the sun don't shine...true story.
we you are playing on paisley bridge you are amazing, great playing
Excellent video
The piano is amazing. I've ordered one just for that but I'm sure it will open up a whole new world for me
I've had 3 Roland guitar synths in the past and should be getting this one soon. Did you get one?
@@THEJMILLSBAND yeah and it’s everything I expected 👍
I have one of these. I get lost in the sounds it produces. I am very happy to see you Demo it. I don't enjoy reading big books on how to use. So you made it essayer for me Thank You for sharing. c];-)
Thanks this is a much better presentation than the Brutal Video I just watched for over an Hour and a half of the guy going through every patch. Didn't sound at all as good as yours. Great job and the best demo video Ive seen in a long time. Have one with the pickup on the way, after watching your video I am no longer sorry I bought one.
Great video! Thanks!
I like the orchestra of brass instruments selection.
Thanks for that. Some good ideas.
Best demo no talking.
Great demonstration.
+corocoro4 Thanks for watching, we appreciate your kind comment!
wow the horn session I do like, that was kool
Have one and love it! For a band w/o horns but playing Stevie Wonder and the like it has come in handy. It’s also great fun to play with. 😎🤘
Takes me back to 1984 when working with our boss and owner the late Ken Miller who started Miller Music in Longmont Colorado he had Roland exclusively and I knew I would own this one day as a man of God in Jesus Christ he let me unbox equipment when Roland keyboards and Midi modules also the guitar synth and footpedals.this has come to my attention I'm going to buy one yes amen the price for it and warranty AandSMusic its early here 7:19A.M. M.S.T. this GRX-55 is the new one right ? From a Roland fan from way back !
great demo really good
+TheCrystalyne Thank you!
You just convinced me to buy one of these
thank you.
really fantastic
Jukka Meirelles Jr. thank you!
Thanks!
Really usefull.
Best vid i've seen about my newly acquired GR55, thank you! As has already been noted you've showcased the best sounds. I must admit I'm very disappointed the kit has no glockenspiel or Hammond B3 sound, both essential. Confusing too, as both were on the G20 I bought in 2005. I didn't know it has a looper - getting right on it now!
Six-String Steve Both Glockenspiel and B3 sound are available. Check manual, search for GR-55 Tone List.
thnx... this is really nice review ;)
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL!!!!!!!!!!!
+SEBASTION HAWK Thank you!
+SEBASTION HAWK Thank you!

celsovianaviana@yahoo.com.br
I said the same thing about my Roland rc 300 loop station ... I have to get this
I had this unit want another one never should have sold it argh!!
Sweet axe!
Thank a lot
Excellent job of demo and playing as well. I am working on getting a gr55. If I did, would I be able to get some of your patches? They are great
Thanks. straight to the point of what a potential purchaser like me wants to see (hear) without wasting time. thanks. I have the GR55 but cannot see the red LED display in daylight, my only reason for changing. Is it altogether a better synth?
É sempre só ao mente um conjunto de ações, músical uma maravilha ,eu curto ,!todos os dias músicas obrigado
Yes it was a great demo. And I purchased the patches from him. I highly recommend that. They are great. If you have a gr55 you should consider purchasing those patches. The cost is cheap and the tones are great
Who is he and how can I get in touch with him to buy his patches?
@@donaldbass6737 you can contact me via email at perrysmusic@yahoo.com (Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't realize that this comment had been posted)
Very nice, hello Golden Triangle. Port Arthur here. Excellent examples of how to play the sounds like the original instrument. Someone had a question about "authentic" bass sounds on this, and it depends on what you're playing. The sounds themselves are pretty good, and I'm a bass player. I have tracking problems when playing a straight-eighths boogie-type bass part. Alternating between picking and hammer-on's helps that. But, more involved bass parts on multiple strings work pretty well. You could also do the bass part on "Nice Shot" quite well with the GR-55. It's very difficult playing a bass part AND another part at the same time, but it depends on the music. On "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks, it's completely doable because the bass is tracking the rhythm guitar right in sync. Stuff like that, you can sound like two players! The deal would be to have just the low-E string set to play bass only, play in drop-D, set the other five strings to a raunchy distorted guitar sound and have fun!
Very Very good
Thank you!
hey man your playing is fantastic brilliant demo .
i want to ask . when you recorded this were you recording straight throu the gr55 into your daw or did you run through a real amp or use any virtual amps on your daw ?
That's all I do when I use my gr55 is go though the patches jamming on whatever I find. I'd like to set it to use live without having to reprogram it every time. Any suggestions?
it`s sometimes unbelievable how it generates pretty natural distortion, bends and dynamic via midi.
It's not really MIDI. It's a 6 pickups, one for each string so process them through a synth with great results.
wikichris oh, well, I haven`t thought about it in this way, then it explains everything, thanks
excellent demo, thank you. i went with the VG99 and then later the GP10. i was looking specifically for the alt tuning and intelligent harmonizer features. does this also do that too? how does it track as a MIDI controller? i found VG99 and GP10 dont quite track so well in this setting. i ended up with a fishman tripleplay for the MIDI to VSTi aspect.
Great video! I have the same GR55, black, it's quite difficult to play, you need very accurate sound production. This is especially true for PCM sounds, since they have a noticeable delay. With modulation sounds, it's easier and cleaner to play, but here in the video, both of them sound clean and fat!.
I don't suppose you would like to share a link to your patches. They would make an awesome starting point for anyone using this unit.
Plugged my unit into the mixer for the first time in ages, and lost 4 hours just going through the great sounds. Fell in love with my gr55 all over again.
Although I like my James Tyler Variax JTV59 coupled with the POD HD500, I'm extremely impressed with the GR-55 and will be picking up a unit today with the pickup so I can add it to my strat. As a gigging musician in a cover band this would cover so much more ground than the variax could and broaden the choice of music we could pick from without having to add a keyboard player.
Give us a call (409) 727-5159, we'll make you a deal you can't refuse! We have one in stock ready to ship!
Hey - Great sounds. I own a GR-55. Where can I get these edited patches?
Are these all precets in the GR55? This was an excellent demo I really appreciate it. And do you know how to get a growling saxophone kind of a sound? is there a tone like that in the unit?
Nice aaaaa
So, is there any way to "back the volume off" to get volume pot type dynamics when using the GR/GK Technology?
Thanks..
I appreciate this video. I Found it very interesting but I have a question. Using GR55 live, how i can set it to have 3/4 patch ready for use immediately? Thanks a lot
I love the Paisley Bridge patch. Can you leave a link to the patch please?
Thanks
Great! I want all patches of your demo. Please, how to get it?
QUE MÁQUINA!! AINDA COMPRO UMA
Super demo. Still I don't hear much strumming, since I'm a rhythm guitar player.
Absolutely incredible product and demonstration. Please tell us you’ve got a job as a roland product demonstrator?
easy like sunday morning ... bought the thing for that and sy
lvia and blinded by the light ... had to rout out my strat ,,, crying as i cut into it
i could use some pointers as to camera and recording .. i have no clue
sensitivity is a bitch and needs work ... the sax are all weak as are all the reed attempts and the violins .. but thats nothing compared to the massive stuff it gets right ... super impressed and i see a long road of discovery and tweaking ahead ... your vid made me buy it.,.. happy me !!!!
edit typos
Nice video. My question is if the guitar is connected to the roland only with the 13-pin cable, and then you connect the normal jack from roland to the amplifier; or in addition to the 13-pin cable, you must also connect the normal jack from the guitar to roland. Thanks for the reply
