But one thing I will say I missed is that Khabib's own brother is in UFC and I never even saw Khabib hype him that much. It is clear that his assessment of Islam was 100% honest.

no joke I think they have some special tricks with training in high altitude, developing cardio, and being able to cut a lot of weight, that also adds to their strength and pressure. no doubt Khabib’s father knew some real secrets about wrestling and weight cutting and conditioning that put his students on another level

The guys Islam and Khabib fought are literally the best fighters in their weight class in the world, yet people say the opponent is bad. Bro, there aren't better opponents, before the fight the haters were barking that Islam would get dominated and that he is overrated, after the fight they find excuses. This is called delusion, these guys should visit a psychologist.
No one can deny the way Khabib effortlessly dismantled Poirier, Gaethje, McGregor, RDA, BUT his rein of dominance over TOP TIER fighters wasn’t nearly as LONG as some other guys.
@@TheRealAbraxas his short reign of dominance is imo not a fair argument to use against him. If the UFC actually did give Khabib what he wanted, meaning a top 10 top 5 opponent earlier in his career, he would probably have been champ much sooner, which also would mean his reign could’ve lasted longer. Unfortunately many top guys didn’t want to fight Khabib when he was lower ranked (we now know why).
Once he got the belt he finished every single one of his opponents in his 3 title defences,making most of the fights look like training sessions. Then the most important person in his life died, the man who didn’t just train him and instil the dream in him to become a fighter, but also the man who took him on that journey and did everything to make that dream come true, his father. For Khabib fighting was something that he’s done because of his father, when he died Khabib didn’t want to fight anymore. So did his mother, she also didn’t want to see Khabib fight without his father. So Khabib decided to fill the gap that the death of his father left in his community, took it to him self to become a trainer, open a gym, start a promotion and train and help other people to becoming champ.
So the story of his short reign isn’t one of he quit cause he wasn’t good enough, he quit at a level that as of yet not a single fighter in that devision is even close of reaching. He quit cause he took over as coach when his father died and he quit cause he felt now is the right time for his best mate Islam to become champion. The fact that Islam is champion proves to me that if Khabib was still active he’d still be champion making Childs play out of all his opponents.
Khabib his legacy won’t be just about himself, it’ll be about the fighters he’s now training and helping them become successful in the ufc as well.

From the rumors that have circulated, Khabib and Islam were known to hold down and beat up Light-heavyweights in training, when they were fighting. So Khabib wasn't as big as he is now. He was still around 170 - 175 off-camp, and nuking light-heavyweights in sparring. Same with Islam, fighting at lightweight. That's insane. To hold down and ground and pound and submit light-heavyweights, and not let them back up, speaks volumes on these guys technical ability and functional grappling skill and strength.
When Khabib wear T shirt 8yrs ago that " If Sambo was easy it's called Jiu Jitsu". still and will holds true in future. Remember 21 takedowns of Kabib to Abel Truijillo.

Volk is like 160lbs. Islam looks bigger than Khabib did when he was active, and Khabib was 190-200. So if he loses that, he loses it to a man who's nearly half a foot taller and 30-40lbs heavier. No shame there.
