To put a 40 yard run in 4.2 seconds in perspective, a ball is hiked to the quarterback, the Quarterback waits about 1.5 seconds and throws the ball 40 yards down the field which takes about 1.5 seconds to get down the field and the receiver is already there to catch the pass. The thing about the NFL combine is that it can be deceptive and for some positions completely pointless. Especially with the 40 yard dash times. When they time them they aren’t in full pads and they are on a track. I can’t tell you how many times Ive seen a player drafted with a great 40 yard dash time and for some reason it doesn’t translate to actual NFL games. The Bears in the early 2000’s had this issue with wide receivers theyd pick because they’d have great times but their speed didn’t translate to the football field. It’s slowly becoming less important for incoming draft classes as a result.

in 2012 Tyreek hill won the (Georgia High School) state championship in the 100 and 200 meters. if you take his 200 meter time he would have finished 6th in the Olympics that same year.

The NFL Combine takes place around the last weekend of February in Indianapolis. It's held so that athletes eligible for the NFL Draft in May can be seen by scouts & NFL coaches in person. The players are tested physically & mentally (the Wonderlic IQ test) and individually interviewed by coaches, team General managers etc. There is a time requirement on interviews too..15 minutes. Some people don't like one aspect of the combine, that is when the players strip down to their underware (knickers) and then called out on a stage and measured weight, height arm length & leg length right in front of team coaches & officials. Some have called it a modern "slave auction"....I'm not sure I agree with that. Also people jokingly refer to it as "The Underware Olympics". It has become a HUGE tv event on the NFL Network and pulls in millions of views. The NFL Network also interviews the athletes and has expert commentary.

Jordan Mailata is easily the biggest freak of nature in the NFL. 6'8" 366 lbs. Makes other NFL players look like children. Jordan came from Australian rugby with zero American football experience and now starts for the NFL best record Philadelphia Eagles.

Hi. Yes the NFL Players are blood tested for HGH often. They are blood tested through out the year, during training camp, during the preseason and regular season, and 5 players from each team in the playoffs are blood tested for performance enhancing drugs. 20% of the players from each team are randomly picked and blood tested. They are blood tested for HGH (Human Growth Hormones). It's the NFL's PED (Performance Enhancing Drug) Policy. So. What you see is natural muscle and power. Aaron Donald is all muscle. NO ROIDS. Fellas!
