I've never heard you talk about any sort of budgeting before. It feels very relatable. I love seeing the glamourous side of your stuff...ie designer bags cosmetics etc but a lot of us can't keep up with that in reality. Day to day stuff is great to see too.

I was about to watch this vlog on my phone while cleaning the kitchen after breakfast, but I saw it's over 40(!) minutes long, and I was like: "nope, I'm gonna put my little one to sleep first, make myself a cup of tea, sit comfortably on my sofa and watch Lily on TV screen", cause this deserves exactly that 😊

@Lily Pebbles I might get some hate for this, but here goes...I hate that this world has gotten *SO* overly sensitive that you feel like you have to justify and apologize for your preferences and purchases. Maybe i'm wrong here, but it makes me feel bad. Lily, it's your baby, your family, get whatever you and Rich want to get for your baby and you shouldn't feel the need to explain it to us, your viewers. We're not raising your baby, you guys are, and as long as it's what you and Rich want, then that's all that matters. You two are very intelligent and seem to do your best for the environment when you can, which I think is great. Wishing you all the best during your pregnancy and can't wait to meet the little one :) Under His Eye (hahahahaha jk, I just remember you being a Handmaid's Tale fan)

I see SO many baby products working as a Student Midwife, but honestly its all down to preference, as long as baby has a nappy, something to wear and to stay warm, something to eat and all the love their family can offer - its all a baby truly needs, everything else is a bonus.Your baby girl already is very much loved by you both, just buy what you feel you need, because at the end of the day all she really needs is you!

I know the ‘parent police’ on the internet will come down on you no matter what you say/choose to do but like you said parenting is a very personal thing - you do what is right for you & your family! Thank you for sharing your process- loved watching how you have gone about things :)

You’re so planned and organised, love how you and Rich work so well together with everything too! Whatever anyone says or the opinions people give every baby, whether it’s your first, second, third etc is different! Some take to breastfeeding, some don’t, some like to be swaddled and some don’t...and also you won’t know what YOU want/need until baby is here. There’s nothing that you can’t run out and buy or order when baby is here if you need the change what you have or need something else xxx

  • @ElmoGrace1988
    @ElmoGrace1988 Před 5 lety

Every child is different which is why the advice I give, when anyone asked what we deem to be an essential and what we regret buying, is “just buy the key pieces that everyone needs - cot, car seat, pram/sling (dependant on your need), nappies and clothes. Everything else you can get when or if you decide you need it”. That’s pretty much how we dealt with our first, and our second is just getting all the stuff we still have because it will have only been 15 months!

Really liked the "come shop with me" style of this vlog. Just in case anyone else was thinking about a cheaper alternative to the ergo baby 360, have a look at the infantino flip. Also with baby monitors I found you can get a better range if you look at security cameras with 2 way audio, night vision, baby alert etc. I personally found camera quality to be better for the price too. Look at Yi home security cameras Xx

Lily, your download checklist is so very sensible and organic. It can be really overwhelming being sold so many things by advertising that you really don't need. I learnt the hard way with my first baby and was far more relaxed and knowledgeable with my second. It's refreshing to see you be so practical about how to plan for what you need and be mindful of the financial impact of a new baby.

I personally think it is super smart to make a list of things you want in case you need to buy it. Cause you are normally really tired and juat don't have time afterwards when child is born. We bought a lot before hand and I am soo happy we did. First because we were prepared second becuase it didn't cost as much later buying all at once, we went down the second hand route in many cases. I also think you are both smart and have a good intuition, go with what feels good to you! ❤

I'm grateful that family and friends have already offered to give us stuff they don't need anymore, because they are done having babies. I'm also lucky because our government gives every family a maternity package with some baby clothes and care products for each baby. It takes away some of the financial stress as well! Now all we need to focus on are the big things, the buggy and the car seat and such.

Such a measured and sensible way of buying baby things! I’ve got two girls (3 1/2 years & 9 months) and we definitely bought things we didn’t need (both times!) and have things that have been brilliant and we’ve used both times. Not sure if you’ve made a decision on the bouncer yet and know you want to do your own research but can really vouch for the baby Bjorn wooden bouncer you picked up in JL, we’ve used it with both girls and it’s been a real winner x

Please do more baby videos. I love seeing what you buy. Hoping to start a family soon so good to get some ideas in now! Also for the car seat. Cybex car seat lies flat so baby can stay in it for longer. Would love some reviews on this if anyone has one? Thanks

The one item I didn't think I needed but ended up loving was a baby swing. My sister in law turned up with one when my son was 3 months old and from then on my husband and I were able to have a meal together without one of us holding the baby and the other one cutting up our meal so we could eat one handed ! 😂...... Both my kids loved being in the wee swing, they are 16 and 20 now ! 😉

Also, I never thought about all the things that you should think about when buying baby stuff like OMG so much research, I will come back to this videos if I ever get pregnant 😊 this is honestly very helpful

Hello from Malaysia. We always use "Kicap manis" in our food. if you make it fried rice you can use that as a flavor. It taste sweet and slightly salty if you put to much. 😃

Hey Lily! It is pronouched as Ki-Ch-Up Manis. It is Malaysian indeed! (also used widespread in other SEA countries but I say native to Malaysia haha) Its basically sweet thick soy sauce. We put it in everything and is a staple in all Malaysian homes. Use it on fried rice or pak choy with garlic (trust me this is amazing!!!) Enjoy :)

Nursing pillows were so useful for me.
I read in an article about what was needed for a post Caesarean section (my baby was breached so Caesarean section was inevitable) and it was the best thing ever!! I also purchased a breast pump - which was useful when my son could t latch properly for the first few days

I think my only thing I tell new Mom's to look into is learn about Postpartum while pregnant. I found out of all things it was so helpful to be able to know what I was feeling and yep its normal or whatever. Plus how to deal with it. My husband read up on it as well. Just one of those things that really was helpful. I'm not even sure who told me to do it.

Pregnancy thirst is the worst, I felt thirsty for 6 months!! I loved orange juice ice lollies. Just seemed a bit more thirst quenching as it took longer to eat and I could never stomach downing a lot of liquid!
Great list and as you said everyone is different. Only tip from me is that I needed more than 2 Moses basket sheets as my little boy was sick often and as he spent a lot of his first few weeks napping in his basket I could easily have two sheets in the wash at the same time (although I felt like a laundrette I could never catch up on baby clothes). By the time he moved into a cot two sheets were definitely enough as I didn’t need to change them as often.
Also my little boy and most of my friends babies loved Freddie the firefly, a toy to clip on car seat, pram etc. I was surprised at how early he payed attention to it as well, it’s about £15 so not a big purchase but one that I was surprised how useful it was from a very young age.

In Indonesia, we call it Kecap Manis.
It made from soy beans, sort of like sweet soy sauce.
Usually we use it for noodle stir fry or cooking Indonesian fried rice

We got the bugaboo fox all black - it’s a big pram and I wouldn’t recommend for London living. We also got Ergo baby mono 360, snuzpod, Motorola monitor, angelcare bath, gro egg - thoroughly recommend them all!
Please don’t buy a Sleepyhead - read about them on the Lullaby Trust website before making any purchase.

I love our Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus. Baby is so snug in it. I’m sure you’ve been recommended millions of things but just want to say Next do the best muslins ever! (The white ones with stars/stripes/clouds) They wash and tumble dry really well and don’t go super crinkly like other ones. I absolutely loved planning for my baby coming. I tried so hard not to buy too much but I think part of the fun is buying some stuff just because you want to! 😊
