The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker | Toonami Game Reviews | Toonami Vintage - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Crazy thing is, this game still holds up. Aged like fine wine.
zelda games tend to do that.
Considering that this game was roasted at the time for it's cel shaded graphics.
Every good videogame holds up
Turns out hyper realistic graphics is a pitfall.
@@TheBaldr most likely because fans were expecting Ocarina but with better graphics. Pretty much everyone who ended up actually playing it loved it. The only thing stopping it from being a true 10/10 is the triforce shard/chart section of the game.
"16 years and going strong" really got me.
toonami was ahead of it's time. recognising the greatness of wind waker
YO I KNOW RIGHT
its*
I miss that era of my youth, I think I was maybe 11 when the game was released.
it was given 10/10 across the board.
They weren't ahead, they were on time. And it's just promotion, lol.
@@DwightLivesMatter They knew it's a good game years before anyone else realized it.
"16 years going strong" crazy to think that the first Zelda on NES was less old when this came out than Wind Waker is now
We old.
bro, you didn't have to do that to me
Still one of the best Zelda games to date
Hoping it comes to the Switch someday
Well friend, don't push your hopes.
Your game was released 2 times already. Nintendo never showed anything about remastered Zelda games after its launch, No need to mope!
You can still emulate your games. maybe The Internet can pluck
But remember what i said, TL;DR: You're out of luck.
@@Khentendo1337 I’m sure you will be eating those words in the very near future 😈
@@xSlickSi What do you mean, when is the last time we've seen a Zelda HD remaster get mentioned by Nintendo after it was released?
I hope for that too it's my most fav zelda game of all 💖
@@Khentendo1337 Just wait and see, I’m sure you’ll be thinking of me when you’re playing Wind Waker HD on your switch
Song - Sordid by Amon Tobin.
Fun fact; the Ninja Tune compilation album Funkungfusion, which Sordid is on, was very frequently used by Toonami/Adult Swim. Seriously, give it a listen and the nostalgia will HIT
Link please
Even after 20 years, I still love this game so much. I really hope it gets ported to the Switch asap 🤓💚
The series was 16 years then, now it's 36??? How time flies 😪
They ought to, since BotW 2 was delayed. They gotta tide us over
Zelda Fun fact: Link's design was inspired by Peter Pan. Mixed with the design and graphical limitations of the original Nintendo, color palettes were at a premium and distinct shapes needed to be used in order to get the semblance of a character (that's why Super Mario has a moustache, for example, so that the nose could be distinguishable in that blocky graphics era). For this reason, it was decided that Link needed a long hat and pointy ears, leaning towards the look of an elf with colors reminiscent of Peter Pan.
Incrível
You're mom
I think everyone already knows this by now.
Thanks for stating an obvious fact most people already knew. Next please talk about how marios real name is jump man.
@@shaynegallagher6006 I miss that era of my childhood, Cartoon Network used to be so cool back then.
Man I remember seeing this long ago. How crazy.
yeah me 2 man, was in like 3rd grade back then, 2002 or 2003 i think. good times
I what to be your friend
1:14 Look, it's a cartoon network logo from 1992!
This review coupled with learning that Shigeru Miyamoto created this series along with Mario was my gateway into The Legend of Zelda starting with the Wind Waker.
My gateway into The Legend of Zelda was Link's Awakening on Game Boy in the 90s. Whenever I started a new game, I'd intentionally put off getting the sword at the beach in the beginning of the game just to take in the sublime atmosphere of Koholint Island.
I remember seeing my cousins playing ocarina, but windwaker was my first zelda experience such a good place to start great game
I guess this is the sign I needed to pick up the HD version on the Wii U! Thanks, TOM!
Definitely do it before the Wii U eShop shuts down in March 2023.
@@Gestrid Or emulate it.
They could definitely buy it now, but once its gone, yeah go for it.
You are welcome James
I hope TOM does this with the Breath of the Wild 2
The trailers has these theatrical feel to it which fits right into Toonami
I what to be your friend
@@derickthekingofguitarhero2919 We are already 👍
@@seraphimsforge-master5433 ok think
I could if SARA let me do it
Back when games didn't have to be perfect to receive a 10/10.
Wind Waker received a lot of backlash for being such a dramatic change in the franchise, but in retrospective, it is one of the best installments in the Zelda franchise.
The beautiful thing about Zelda is there is a Zelda for every sort of person. You don't have to like Wind Waker, or play it, but you can appreciate it's authenticity and boldness.
A sea-farer's game on the GameCube was surprisingly welcome, just like the 10/10 rating Toonami gave.
But this one was definitely perfect
What's funny is that it's far from a dramatic change in most respects. The gameplay formula is the same as the previous 3D Zelda games, and most new stuff added isn't super disruptive to that formula. What sank this game was the culture that it came out in. Gaming was in the midst of its edgy teen years, insecure and begging to be taken seriously. So when this game came out with a bright, cartoony artstyle people pounced on it for being to immature and childish, despite the game aging far better than its try hard edgelord contemporaries have with the benefit of hindsight.
Man, I remember at the time people hated the art style. It was SO divisive on how people perceived this game. Then little by little, year after year, people realized their love for it. And this game proved to be the one that would age the best, even compared to OoT.
Present day, I'd wager it's fairly popular to consider this this most long time Zelda fans' #1, or at least top 3 minimum.
The art style was garbage even back than everyone hated it. Even the young kids
Phantom Hourglass is really underrated, but very cool too btw
I what to be your friend
Its kinda just hitting me that this is now older than the NES Zeldas were when this came out.
I what to be your friend
Mannnnn this just unlocked a secret vault full of nostalgic memories. I actually remember seeing this a few times as a kid.
My all-time favorite game in my all-time favorite franchise
Fun fact: Windwaker and Twilight princess are rumored to be re-released on switch.
they have been rumored since launch tho lol
I sure hope so! Those 2 are the best of the series next to A Link to the Past IMO
Nintendo is never re-re-releasing a game that's already been re-released, when has the last time the HD version of Wind Waker and TP has been talked about after their release?
I want more one minute reviews on toonami, and it could be anything like Movies and Anime too.
I didn’t know I needed this. Thank you
Nice and awesome video game review Toonami and Adult Swim!
Beautiful upload, thanks for this.
I always loved these reviews. This was my favorite Tom
What an era for video games
The song is "Sordid" by Amon Tobin. I never thought I'd hear THAT song in a Toonami preview of Wind Waker..... there's a first for everything
toonami saying wind waker is based was truly ahead of its time
Bring it to the Switch
wind waker is what really got me into zelda
I remember everyone complaining about this game at the time but I knew it would be great. I'm glad everyone came around on this one.
This is so cool
Perfect timing, I just started replaying it!
Toonami game reviews are one of my favorite little parts of it!
They are also uploading old game reviews? Nice
My favorite game review from Toonami~ this was were I first learn the game even existed.
The amount of nostalgia in this video is astounding ☆☆☆
I love that Tom still does game reviews to this day, just another way Adult swim makes its broadcasts stand out.
Jesus time flies so hard
I love how this comes out
I have The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD on Wii U.
My favorite Zelda game.
Ouch, right in the feels...if only I could go back, before the world lost all sense, and watch all those badass show openers for the first time again...
“16 years and going strong “
*looks up release date of Zelda*
*realizes it’s been 36 years now and 20 from when this came out*
* immediately cries*
* falls into darkness. Nothing is around. only darkness now*
oof
not alone on that, i feel old as well
And how long since Zatch Bell went off the air?
Ok boomer
@@Carcosahead Imagine referring to a Millennial as a Boomer.
This was so cool
I think TOM 3 was my favorite version of TOM.
Amon Tobin - Sordid going crazy on here!!!
I remember watching this review on TV when the game came out the same week of my 13th birthday. Once I saw this, I HAD to have it. One of my best memories as a kid. I absolutely loved this game. First game that felt like a true adventure for me.
Awesome The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Toonami Game Reviews Toonami Vintage Video.
I hope this gets ported, i would love to play this again
Not that it's a major deal, but I wish you would have at least preserved the original aspect ratio since this cuts off the top and bottom of the screen. At least for preservation purposes. I hope you guys add more of these though!
I remember watching these.
It's nice that they're uploading old promos, and bumpers. The vast majority of TV channels just trow them into the trash or in vaults.
okay now this is epic
I finally played Wind Waker (GameCube version) and boy howdy it’s one of the best games I ever played
This is beautiful
Amazing Video
Lol I don’t know why this got uploaded in this time and age, let alone but the actual channel, but I’m here for it
Your consistency and quality of content never disappoints!
Bot
Yup it's a bot so can we all mass report it and take it down
They give check marks to accounts that spam like this?
@@aoBubs I guess cause they just bought subs and he's got 574K subs which I very much doubt most of then are actual people who subbed
@@rogueraccoon1840 love that idea
funny to think people hated this game when it first came out but toonami gave it a actual review
I remember seeing this all those years ago. I fully agree with Tom. 10/10 game. Still one of my favorites to this day
😎
God instant nostalgia loved these game reviews and windwaker is one of the best Legend of Zelda games to date
Wow that's a whole lot of nostalgia in under 2 minutes
Oh god my childhood.
I thought this was an old clip uploaded to the YT channel till he said sixteen years and going strong
it was an old clip. at the time of wind wakers release the zelda series was 16 years old. hes making mention of that
@@VvVLuffyM2 ah thanks
I forgot they did game reviews crazy
I remember this when it aired. "Sixteen years and going strong." That was almost 20 years ago! And _still_ going strong! 😉
Shigeru Miyamoto at now at 69 years old.He is still serves as one of its representative directors of Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda:Breath of The Wild 2 will officially release in Spring 2023!😎
This is nostalgic and I didn’t even watch this back then cause I was a baby.
I will love to see more toonami.
This was my first zelda game, and I’m glad this game holds up to this day!!
A fun game. I'm a fan of Nintendo and Legend of Zelda, especially I'm a fan of this game.
Also did I just hear the background music from Cartoon Network Invaded?
I like to play Arcade Archives titles on Nintendo Switch Lite and New Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Virtual Console games.
I say we have tom review more games cause i miss these reviews
Still holds up today -- both WW and Toonami
... genuine advert and overview. It is an excellent game. Really want Minish Cap for Switch
I liekd that toonami just took the time to talk about whatever content was coming up, not just the shows cartoon network would be airing
Shoutout to SlimD716 for holding down Toonami's archival on CZcams all these years! 🔥
I forgot how hype toonami ads were
I thought this game was gone. As in no one was gonna talk about it anymore and this is my pure childhood game.
Yes! The sole reason I picked up Wind Waker in the first place. Wish I picked it up much sooner.
whoever wrote the copy for this review is an absolute pro
This review is literally what made me get a Gamecube for this game
It feels like a long time, and yet no time at all..
I remember this!
Tom you are gold
I remember the first time I encounter the Kraken :,) it was horrifying, makes me nostalgic.
Hah. Even TOM took a picture of Ganondorf. I mean, once-in-a-lifetime moment, amirite?
Still my favorite Zelda game.
Yes
Wind Waker turned out to better than Ocarina Of Time, also I miss that era of Cartoon Network.
@tekfunk At the Ocarina Of Time purists or modern Cartoon Network?
What you didn't know is:The Legend of Zelda:The Wind Waker, had a Manga released in Japan in 2001!While Nintendo.Shigeru Miyamoto has began the game's development and design in the year 2002 of April!!
Glad to see Toonami is still reviewing GameCube games
Is this Mugen / Spike Spiegel doing the voiceover? Awesome
Give us the Morrowind review!!
After playing every legitimate Zelda title there is I think wind waker is probably the one I remember most fondly.
This is definitely foreshadowing something
What’s that background song?
The Wind Waker was 20 years ago? Oh man I'm getting old
Is that Steve Blum lmao
I regularly visit buffets in different cities around the states. Before I go to a buffet, I will place 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. After entering the buffet, I sneak the corndogs into some of the fried food section trays. It is such a joy for me to see other customers of the buffet eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.
