This is a copy of the outstanding Mini Mate Motorcycle Camper, which is why it looks to be such a well considered design! It is disappointing that the builder does not credit Mini Mate for their superb design! The Mini Mate Motorcycle Camper has the removable bed panel which converts into a seat, without the requirement of a separate folding chair to be used. Despite being a supporter of the excellent Mini Mate, it wasn't until I saw this builders version that it occurred to me just how well one could be built as a bicycle camper, with the priority being on low weight. The builder has constructed a wonderful camper with that essential full standing height which allows the rider to dress and undress normally and provides a place to hang up wet rain gear. This looks to be very well constructed, and with the inclusion of a collapsible titanium tent woodstove would be a great travel cabin for winter touring. The Seek Outside Cub Stove would be ideal for this camper. Thank you for sharing your lovely camper, you will doubtless be inundated with buyer inquiries from those fortunate enough to see it.
I love trailer camper camping and I love bike but can't find any videos on these type of car like bikes and campers! I love your setup and also I love traveling and camping with dogs also
Oh that's too cool. I can see buying a 4 wheel dolly, sawing the existing metal handle off, and using that as my frame (dolly already has a 2'2 wooden floor supported by the metal frame, then i'd measure plywood for the walls and getting 4 metal (length variable) poles and building something like this using durable canvas material sewn to create the top.
One of the most impressive bicycle camper trailer yet, not to mention a very nice bicycle version of the Mini Mate Camper. How big is your trailer (width, length and height of the box), what size for the wheels and how heavy is it? Any plans for a stove, sink, etc?
The trailer is 39 inches wide, 59 inches long and 32 inches tall. The weight is 135 pounds. I will reduce that weight by replacing the steel legs and steel wheels this winter. I think I can get the trailer down to 105 to 110 pounds. The wheels are cart wheels with 3/4 bearing. The wheels are made by grizzly on-line. I bought them on line for $35 bucks. I needed to test the camper before winter, so I bought some steel temporary components. There's a lot of storage room inside the trailer for cloths, food, sleeping bags, stoves ect. The goal with this build was to make a trailer that I could stand up in, use a full size chair in and sleep 2 dogs in. The mini-mate design concept was a winner, so I picked that design concept. The real mini mate is short somewhere around 5 foot 8 inches tall. My camper is 6 ft 4 1/2 inch tall where you stand.
You re-created the Mini Mate Motorcycle Camper. I love your weight savings as your is about 1/2 the weight of the Mini-Mate. What was your cost to build?
do you have a build video on your little camper. I would really like to know about how much it weights I am in awe i love this i will be builing me something like this.
I did take some video, I didn't edit it, I have been too busy. The camper is at 120 pounds, I will get it to about 100 pounds. This winter I will build a new one with a 60 pound target weight. I learned a lot on this build
@@brianduncan2149 Hi Brian I love your trailer and would.love to know if you built your second prototype at around 60 pounds. Or at least what material choices you were hoping to use to get to that point? I WOULD REALLY APPRECJATE ANY INFO 🙂 I have some health problems where I need to get back on a bike, but I won't be able to rough camp anymore
I think the name of the fabric is sunbrella. Its waterproof and used for marine boat tops and pop up campers. Its A ripstop material and 100% waterproof while being somewhat light weight. There are different manufactures that make similar products.
I designed and built the camper, it wasn't purchased. It took over 100 hours to build, its tig welded 3/4 and 1 inch square tubing aluminum with a .063 wall thickness. The trailer walls are plastic tri-core panel that's light weight.
@@brianduncan2149 As light as that is, coroplast would have weighed less than half as much and much cheaper. I think only your bed and floor needed the tri-core.
I have used coroplast on past bike trailer projects. With this trailer, I designed the walls and floor as a panel. I can pop out the plastic Tri-core wall and replace it with other materials down the road. I will look a dropping the weight a over the winter. This is a large camper and is also used as a truck bed camper. I will make a smaller and lighter camper this winter.
Yes I have pulled the trailer up paved and unpaved dirt hills. With the ELF velomobiles electric assist its not a issue. I'm planning on talking a 35 mile trip down a dirt trail (rails to trails) and camp this weekend.
I wished Organic Transit was able to make a version 2. I like my ELF and theres alot of improvements that Im making over the winter, so stay tuned to see my upgrades Have a great Holiday
Johnny, Its about 120 pounds. Im making some changes to get it to just under 100 pounds. Being my 1st prototype camper the goal was to make a functional camper. My next one will be improved , smaller and lighter.

great job, well done
🤩멋지십니다 🤩👍👍👍
Impressive one of the best 👌
Where you get the trailer?
That is pretty cool. How did you get the canvas part made? Did you make that part yourself, or have it made by a specialty shop of some sort?
I wish I had your talent and hope to make something similar.
Well done.

How much does it weigh empty? Did you really sew the entire tent? Seems like it would be much easier to adapt an existing one, so many are available.
Great engineering and fabrication.

@Alana Weaver I used 1 inch square x .062 wall 6063-T52 aluminum. I tig welded the frame and sides. I had no problem with bending.
I just read the comments .great design well built any plans you are willing to share or dimensions am a carpenter by trade.
I haven't done up a drawing. I will in the future and post it
Where is this?
Belleville Michigan USA
Did you go up a hill yet with the trailer? Anyways keep up the project man.
