- Oooohh another micro break in the seasonal storms gets me the chance to investigate a potential new wild campsite. All good; and the chance to have a field test of the French Army ration heating kit, compaired to a BCB Fire dragon fuel cooker. Theres also a comparison between the good old ultra reliable Stanley Adventure cookset compared to its Far East.

Small tip fella.
Trap the match head between the striker strip and the match book cover. Press down firmly on the match head and pull out the match. I found one youtube tutorial showing it :)

You don't want to go BCB you want to go Optimus:) That was windy in Savernake Ralph. I have camped there a couple of times and also in the permitted camp site which is very nice.
For a quick boil you won't beat the Optimus Weekender HE pot,.

Guess whose bought an old Primus No5 stove, all buffed up and the next step is to see if I can renovate it to fuully working order. It sees as if the Insta 360 Camera is suseptable to windage noise.

Why didn't you put a lid on your pot when boiling the water? Or did a small shallow to protect it from the wind, and stabalise the stove.
I had a general idea that the French cooker would be as limp as the queue to the viagara clinic, so I just wanted to show the steam was a good to go sign of hot water. It wouldn't have helped too much to get the boil time down.
Bcb flat stove the older one is better, its raised off the deck a bit by 1 inch or so. Had mine issued in 1980s.
French army i guess nato issue a bit of metal you bend to form a stove, with ration packs.
