Our Walmart does not carry the Waverly brand of chalk paint where I live in Canada, occasionally they have the small 8 oz bottles of Folk Art, but they do not keep the paint area well stocked period. I find Michael's prices for chalk paint too expensive, even with a coupon. I did have an individual suggest I use calcium carbonate & acrylic paint mixed to make my own chalk paint, she's used it on restored furniture for years, I have yet to try it. I just use my base primer/acrylic paint method, continues to work well for me. Interesting demonstration, nice to see products compared. Thanks Cindy!
Hi, I’m new to your channel thank you for the information and Waverly chalk. I’ve been using it and I love it and comparing other brands I will stick with Waverley.
😇🌷 I have only tried the Waverly Chalk Paint, and I also find that using a sponge brush or makeup spong, on glass it comes out much better, than using a regular paint brush, because it doesn't leave any streaks.😊 I Thank YOU for sharing the different chalk paints.🎨🖌️ Oh and I also had NO idea that, Waverly Chalk Paint, comes in so many other different colors.😊
Finally got to watching this and I’m so glad I did! I’ve heard so many crafters rave about some of these paints and here I am 🙋🏽♀️ with my Waverly just like you haha! There’s one paint I do want to try by Dixie bell that Kacha has been using in her tutorials. Thanks so much for doing this video! You did an awesome job ! *edit* I also didn’t know all the colors I can get on the plaid website! I’m so excited now 🤩
I found chalk paint at a second hand store that was not in a bottle but on a pallet.. So I will try to find out where this originally came from.. Thank you for your demonstration and will most likely be re-visiting later. I'm also a big fan of Walmart but they have a limited supply of some things..
I use Waverly chalk paint for quick small projects. If I'm doing medium to large projects I use Debi Designs DIY chalk paint. Expensive, but depending if I'm selling something or painting furniture for myself, it's so worth it. You can find DIY paint retailers at her site. diypaint.co/ Thanks for showing us what you found out. 💗
@@monarchmomdiy I get it. It's just way cheaper than you think. $25 total and last me so so long. I also do furniture. But I can make a quart last 4 months. Engender with furniture!
Cindy, I use Kilz all the time for furniture. It does take multiple coats but I expect that for a piece of furniture. What I really like about it is that it’s as hard as the dickens and once it’s been polyurethane you really end up with a piece that is pretty indestructible, especially if you age it down, which I do. My favorite craft paint is indeed Waverly and the truth of the matter is because of the colors that are available. I am really excited to hear that you can buy it from them direct and have access to the 31 colors. This was super interesting because it gave me an opportunity to see what could be done and what the outcome was like. Thanks so much for sharing. I am very grateful for your knowledge! Be safe and well!
I’m so glad you compared these. I have often wondered how other paints covered. And glad to know the Waverly comes in so many colors. I have about 6 Waverly chalk paints, but will check on other colors when this virus is hopefully gone. Thanks for sharing and take care.
I usually pretty much use Waverly but I have bought folk art and have bought craftsman as well and actually I recently picked up Martha Stewart paint at Michaels but it was only because I needed a specific color and they only had it in that brand that day lol. I have also tried hot humble pie's recipe where you add the baby powder (with talc not corn starch) and must say I've been loving that lately!! I seen a video where you tried that too!! I do a lot of picking up the mark down paint at Lowe's lol so I use that too ♥️
I can't find baby powder with yalc. I have looked everywhere and it seems like every brand is now using cornstarch instead! Where do you find powder with talc?
@@monarchmomdiy I found some at Dollar general actually finally thank God lol.... It's their brand and you are so so right a lot of them so have corn starch lol!! But I truly do like that recipe I'm extremely impressed with it
That’s kinda a personal preference I’m feeling as well as what you’re using it on. I can’t wait to watch your take in it cause I know I’ll learn something from you😉
Definitely. So many things go into it like cost, how easily available it is, color choice, etc. We will talk about those things as well as coverage on both wood and glass.
I know I'm way late to this party but I'm partial to the FolkArt Home Decor line and there is actually 55 colors available not 19 colors...I say this with confidence because I own 16 of them and I'm missing a fair few
Some ppl.are saying that waverly chalk paint is being moved into.clearance aisle of walmart now they saying on plaid website you order again online not sure what going with that but will look.see if they moved the paint in clearance section of the store it something to look you can also order waverly on walmart website too I thinking seeing if any of my store has bigger antique wax and other color I know I would use alot
Thank you so much...this has really helped me, I was so confused when picking out one to buy. By any chance, have you ever compared regular acrylic paint to chalk paint?
I just purchased several colors of the Waverly chalk paint to use for wood projects, some of which will go outside. I noticed on the jar, it says "for inside use only". If I use a polyurethane on the project after it has been painted, can I use the piece outside?
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I use Waverly. 💖💜💖
Sounds good!
Thank you. I’m just starting to use chalk paint this helped me decide. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos.
.Have a good day.

In my opinion based.mostly on cost, availability and color choices

Thanks Cindy for testing those chalk paints for us. You rock.

I was wondering which chalk paint was the best. Thank you for the review.
That's great Mildred! Glad I could help!
I use Kilz all the time! The trick is to add some talc powder. Talc makes it thicker and JUST like Waverly. Just thought I'd give you that hint.
Hmmm. I dont think I want to have to spend $20 and then have to add something else

I'm glad you found it helpful Betty
I buy folk art and decoart because thats whats available to me. I generally like it and it works well. I also buy the acrylic paint as well
Thank you Melissa for the feedback

Loved this sorry I was late I use Waverly chalk paint
Thanks Amie
I’m watching the replay I’m so sorry that I missed the live ! 😞

I love my Waverly chalk paint also, but the folk art chalk paint can be purchased at Hobby Lobby and you could use a 40% off coupon.
Dawn I like them both
I love waverly except on glass. Unless I just had some old paint. It was thin. Took multiple coats.
1-2 coats on glass depending on the color
I like how you did that. Now I have never used any paint yet just started to watch . Can you use chalk paint on wicker like basket.
Yes you can !
Have you tried Folkart one decor paint?
I have not
Thank you so much...this has really helped me, I was so confused when picking out one to buy. By any chance, have you ever compared regular acrylic paint to chalk paint?
Oh yes. That's the main reason I now use chalk paint. Acrylic paint is generally thinner and needs more coats.
They website is from " Chalk it up Fancy"!
thank you

I would say yes. Just check the container of poly.
I find the chalk paint streaky, why is that and how do u get rid of it? I'm sorry I'm a newbie at chalk paint.
What brand are you using?
I wonder if the kill needed stirred more??? It’s usually such a good brand.
Maybe. I had shaken it pretty good and stirred it
Lisa Harvey I’ve used the Kilz and it is very thin compared to the others.
Have you ever used "Wiserly chalk paint"?
No. Is it available locally?
Don't think it is available locally but I'm not sure?
@@monarchmomdiy I love what you do.
Where can I order weaverly paint on line?? Or is it only through Walmart?? Help please... and thank you
🤗💜💕🙏
Once covid is o we you can order from plaidonline.com
Can you use these paints to paint big furniture?
SUre thing!
Have you tried to "make" your own? I see many recipes on Pinterest.
I did years ago with acrylic paint and plaster of Paris. I may try again.
I didn't see Junk Monkey or Dixie Bell....???
What does this mean?
You’re not supposed to shake chalk paint, it creates bubbles in your paint!
Thank you Myriam!
