Marx did ultimately stop the sun and moon from fighting by accident; he set Nova on a collision course towards Popstar with his wish, causing the sun and moon to team up and stop Nova from colliding with Popstar
At the same time, if Kirby failed to defeat him, he would've done it again anyway

Sakurai straight up just injected other IPs into kirby games and made one of the most successful franchises on the face of the earth.

@@Michael-bv9go Thats my point? HAL/sakurai/nintendo saw how successful certain kirby games were and decided hey lets add our other IPs into it. And thus smash was born.
I don't really see the connection between the two games, other than both of them being loosely story-based platforming modes, which is kind of generic.
Then there's Smash Run which is mostly inspired by City Trial from Kirby Air Ride.

If Kirby didn't destroy Nova, it would've destroyed the planet.
Plus destroying it weakened Marx.

am I remembering things wrong? I'm pretty sure Kirby could drop a power or make it a companion to be able to absorb any power but he seems to go out of his way to only get powers from the icons, its been a looong time so I could be wrong
in this mode you can only get abilities by finding them and you can switch back to them whenever
