To invite a guy like Gaethje, who loves to brawl and hits like a truck, to slug it out in the centre of the octagon for the last 10 seconds is the most badass move I've seen in my 12 years of watching the UFC. Lost count of the amount of times I've watched that moment. You just put a huge stamp on your legend status.
To be fare, Justin was already mentally and physically broken, and to be the one to request that 10 second brawl is to hold the psychological upper hand even more. So justin stood very little chance, just like ricardo lamas.

There’s a reason why my favourite fighter growing up was GSP and my two favourite fighters now are Robert Whittaker and Max Holloway. These guys are as good a humans as they’re fighters. From my experience, there's a weird calm that floats over everybody once the hands start getting wrapped. The calm is very deceiving because its not peaceful. Your body essentially goes into shock, and every feeling in the emotional spectrum is pelted at you all at once. It's not even worth trying to discern what's what, so instead you have to hollow yourself out and hope that your instincts will hold you up. Truly one of the most harrowing and unique experiences of my life.

this video did a really, really, great job conveying the nerves leading up to a fight... the awkwardness, the silence... those moments in the locker room where all the work's been done, there's nothing left to say... despite the confidence a fighter has in themselves, it almost feels like a dog being led to slaughter in a way if that makes sense... even if you'll be slaughtering someone else in the octagon. and then that feeling after it's over, this video captured that just as well. you're in this giant, clinical, commercial space, yet you just gave your all, left everything inside of you on the line... your soul is apart of that building forever. i don't know why, but this felt like a death row documentary in some ways. really well done video, and of course an apex performance by the legendary max. it's like he said in the post-fight presser... he's only 32, and people have acted like he's 41 due to his longevity in the organization... he's still relatively young for the sport, despite such a storied and star-studded career. a true legend- both he and justin, by whom nothing was lost in this fight... nothing to be embarrassed about.
To see Max Holloway nervous, a guy who fought multiple world championship fights and many fights under his belt is a reality moment. This sport has the highest highs and lowest lows. You just have to fight every fight like your last because this sport is brutal and unforgiving. And the fact he delivered and entertained us made it sweeter. Being a fighter is no joke
