    I cut a whole branched trunk off my eucalyptus gunnii and it it sprouted straight away and now, two years later, it has bushed up and grown 5 feet.

    Thanks for this video! I have some eucalyptus so it was so useful to see the coppicing! I'm learning so much from you.

      Let’s hope we get lots of healthy usable shoots from them! Thank you!

    Cutting the trees totally works, just in case you are worried. We had a eucalyptus come down in a storm and from then on it produced lots and lots of long foliage stems perfect for cutting for the house. It's going to be fine.

    Thank you for all the info on coppicing eucalyptus! I just started some from seed last year and they overwintered well. Now I'll just be waiting for them to reach the right diameter to cut 😀

    I have an aluminium greenhouse (palram) and it uses the same type of bolts in the runners also.
    Can't wait to see all the new growth of your eucalyptus. They're pretty hardy plants do the should cope alright 😊

      Mine does as well (another Palram) and they're such a pain! Any tips for getting them to stay in place properly? My vent opener is hanging loose because the little bolt popped out and I can't get it to sit right.

    • @meganfarley672
      @meganfarley672 Před 3 lety +1

      @@inbloom2006 I haven't had any problems thus far with the bolts tho they do slide around before the nut goes on. My vent did feel loose in the beginning but I have since tightened it really tight and now it's okay 😊 the only thing maybe it's not on correctly. I know when I built mine I did some things wrong in the construction stage 😂 I put the bracket on the wrong way on the vent and it just wouldn't stay open so possibly it's on upside down?

    • @inbloom2006
      @inbloom2006 Před 3 lety

      @@meganfarley672 it was fine for several months, but then when we had strong winds the vent window got torn off and I can't get it to reconnect properly. Maybe the track got bent out of shape a bit.

    Eucalyptus is my absolute favourite! ours dose not grow nearly that big here in BC Canada that I know of! I wasn’t able to find any seeds this year to try to grow some for the first time, hopefully next season!

      @@bloomandgray thank you! I came across your channel looking for information about coppicing eucalyptus. The irony is strong - we don't routinely coppice our eucalyptus in Australia, so I am having to look at UK and US information! I just love your information on sustainable flower growing.

    Hi, thank you for the advice on coppicing eucalyptus. Is it worthwhile drying the foliage from the cut trees? If so can it be rehydrated and used with cut flowers in the summer? @bloomandgray  Před 3 lety

      I will plant them directly from seed trays further on in the season when it’s warm enough for them to go out. When I sow in February/ March it is a bit too long for them to be waiting in the same tray until May time.
