The movie might've been a little on the ridiculous side, but *damn* is it always worth watching just to see all of the incredible creature effects and sets: top-notch work, guys.
The completly dropped the ball with the queen though from the angle underneath her head plate to her laying spread eagle it just looked dumb af after waiting sooooo long to see her again....I can't believe people hate on AvP part one the queen was great in that sure she was jarassic park but she was always meant to be a giant threat
Watching the puppetry on stuff like this is amazing, it really imbues a feeling of 'life' into the creatures that a lot of CGI just can't reproduce yet
CGI limitations are not the only reason to use animatronic puppets. Having a real creature on set also elevates the performance of an actor because a puppet can react in ways a CGI suit cannot.
@@Overlorddz Agreed. Seven years later, special effects have improved massively in many areas but there's still a very 'real' element thats missing. I'll always stand by practical effects being ENHANCED by CGI, never replaced unless its something truly impossible to create.
The alien resurrection queen was so incredibly underrated, the mix of browns and oranges that made up her color palette was beautiful, its really sad that her own creation killed her

It really depends on the film. Alien gave Big Chap sort of a greenish hue, Aliens had more blue to it, Alien 3 used a combination of green and brown, and Alien: Resurrection used brown.

The y dropped ball so hard with the under head plate angle looking dumb then she's already eagle gets beat in one second AvP part one did her justice yeah she was akin to a Trex but until we get some actual canon xenomorphs that aren't dumb AF (looking at you protomorph) something threatening like the movie canon xeno born from an engineer or the elusive MALE xeno ....the AvP queen was the best we have....hoping Ridley finishes with an epic engineer focussed movie with xenomorphs in the back seat and an alien 5 with 3 4 ignored is made giving us insane variations on xenomorphs but engineer Prometheus story needs to wrap first

The scene im looking for is when Riply is in the loader and fighting Alien Queen...the Alien Queen starts trying to stab Riply with the tip of her tail..Riply catches the tail tip and twists it off.... this scene has been cut from all versions of the film i can find.... PLEASE HELP...

I just went and looked up the queen/ripley fight scene after reading this and amazingly enough it is visibly clear the queen actually is missing her tail tip when she is squashed under the power loader when ripler tries to climb out!! 🤯 But wierdly enough she still has it when ripley is choking her above the air lock. I'm guessing that was filmed out of sequence or something. Look closley at 2:07 in the link below. Eventhough the movie was absolutely campy, badly acted trash-fest, the practical effects surely holds up. The only thing worth watching about this movie.
