Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!

Its amazing i am a 10 grade dropout that made C's, D's and F's in math, i could never retain what teachers where trying to teach in school with chalk bored methods, it would take me weeks to drill much more basic mathematics than this into my head using typical teaching methods but i pretty much retained and understand everything in this video in 9 minutes at worst watching it 1-2 more times would be perfect. Its amazing with videos like this i could learn everything from 1st-12th grade and on into collage level in less than a year by these standards i only wish i was about 10 years ahead so i could have had access to this stuff when i needed it most, textbooks and teachers did not cut it for me all i needed was the ability to have problems visualized in front of me in a clean simple manner at a pace i can handle with the ability to pause, rewind as i please. And i know i must not be the only person that was like myself that has found this way to be ten times more effective.

Complaining can be really useful sometimes, even if you're living a wonderful life with luxuries such as clean running water, food, sewage system, very advanced calculator, Internet access and plenty of toilet paper. That is when you have to use the unit circle definition to find the cos or tan of the right angle.
If you are curious, cos(90 degrees) = 0
    tan(90 degrees) is undefined.

The sin function is to be used with the angles inside the triangle, not the sides. Also, your calculator will probably calculate the ratio of the sides to give you the decimal value of what that ratio/fraction would be. To get a fraction from a TI-83 or similar calculator. press MATH-->ENTER-->ENTER.

I'm sorry, when you said "pneumonic" in the video it really bothered me because it's spelled "mnemonic" and I don't see where you could have gotten the "u" sound from. Pneumonic means relating to pneumonia.
