The Drifters sing 3 of their oldies at the London Palladium on 14 April 1974. 1. Come On Over To My Place 2. Like Sisters And Brothers 3. Save The Last Dance For Me
I saw them at the palladium in 1974 in the afternoon and got home, lived quite near in Highbury and realised I’d left my handbag under my seat and tough had to go all the way back and see if I could find it luckily no one was sitting in my seat. I found it and they allowed me and my husband stay to and watch them again. The Dooley’s were the supporting act that time. Great memories.
This is such a wonderful proud moment for me watching my father Johnny Moore and my adoptive uncle’s perform miss you all ❤️😢 thank you for all your kind remarks🙏🏽
These guys made my generation. Loved their music. Now, sixty years later, I listen to them and appreciate them as much as ever. Cannot imagine a more interesting father.
It's a huge blessing to be able to see my Dad doing what he loved. Singing and Entertaining. I will cherish his gift as he left an indelible mark on how I perform on stage or in church.
Quem é o seu pai... Esse grupo muito é muito bom ... E eu só estou conhecendo esse grupo musical agora, através de terneth. Abraços fraternos do Brasil... América do Sul....
I love them. They are part of my childhood...I was born in 74 but my daddy loooooved them. Age v4 and on that's all i heard. They were not appreciated like they should have been. Thank you, Drifters. Best singers I have ever heard.
I’m only 30 but my parents brought me up with the drifters...... amazing! Can’t be many other 30 year olds that know the whole catalogue of drifters songs.
Not only top notch singing, for the history buffs, that is absolutely '70s clean tux outfits and boots. If you weren't there, you would never understand why. 😎
Amazing singing /vocal group ! Loved by Millions of people of all colours all over the planet for decades! Their songs have lasted the test of time! God Bless The Drifters! dx
Thanks for sharing this great video! Johnny Moore is among my very favorite voices of all time. What a wonderful smile and attitude he carried! Sure would love to have seen him live. RIP, Johnny...
Fantastic! One of THE greatest vocal groups of all time. Johnny Moore & Bill Fredricks. Puts todays R&B groups and boybands to shame. Style class and true talent. A performance recorded 2 days after my 13th birthday. Happy times!
MY NAME IS ADRIAN PARIS, I SUPPORTED THE GREATEST MOTOWN DRIFTERS AT THE SHEFFIELD CITY HALL, IN 1996, ALL THESE SINGERS INC JOHNNY MOORE WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH, AND VERY KIND TO ME AS IT WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE.
So, 24 people down vote this, sometimes I wonder what possesses people, some songs and groups transcend genres and you just have to appreciate their beauty and the beautiful voices they have, The Drifters, Johnny and Bill are the epitome of that, absolutely wonderful !
The best line up of the modern era Johnny Moore, Bill Fredericks, Grant Kitchen and Butch Leake, saw them at London's Talk of the Town, what a fantastic show, fond memories of my first wife Lyn. Voices like this should live for ever. The "Drifters Now" disc from this era show cases their talent at its best.
God bless you your father had an amazing voice saw him live in South Wales could not get over the power of his voice it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up he absolutely blew us away and he sings with ease and makes it look so easy he was absolutely outstanding your father was just simply the best ♥️
March 2023 Wow! I really appreciate reading so many warm, loving comments about The Drifters & lead singer Johnny Moore., a True balladeer of song. His voice-template, Style and range could sing anything. His stage presence, and professionalism always intact. Yeah! he could have went solo but, he always remained loyal and stayed with his signature brand That got him here -The Drifters. For over 50 years he wore the Monica proudly. Thank you Johnny Moore, RIP and The Drifters for helping ushering-in the "Soundtrack of my youth" and Soul-generation.
Is that Bill Fredericks singing the last two of the songs? As regards Johnny Moore and Ben E. King, I happen to think and believe that they are both, in their own right, each glorious jewels in the fabric and crown that is the fabulous original doo wop/R 'N' B quartet, that will forever be known as, The Drifters. Johnny Moore, as the lead tenor vocalist of the Drifters, had more years as a member of the Drifters than any other lead vocalist (1954-57, 1964-78, 1980, 1983- 1985, 1987-98; regrettably he died in 1998) including Ben E. King, who was originally lead vocalist for a comparatively shorter period of June 1958 until May 1960 and then later 1981-85; regrettably he too died, in 2015. That said, both gentlemen had extraordinarily rich and gorgeous voices and both contributed so much, to make this iconic, earlier example of the age-old boy band, such a worldwide success and phenomenon.
The greatest UK Drifters line-up. This was the last major appearance by Bill Fredericks before he left the group and went solo. Sadly Butch Leake is the only living member of this wonderful quartet.
Wow this lineup of the Drifters if the definitive Drifters for me. I have every recording at the Drifters made with this lineup. I would have loved to see this line up at the Drifters live but I believe the memory will have to live on through their recordings.
That's my almost managerial prospect singing lead, 2nd song,"Save The last Dance For Me", Billy Fredrics, with the Drifters, when he left from NYC for London England , to join the group, what a talent...
Lovely ! Bill was a great friend in the early 80s ,I was so sorry when I heard that he had passed, but I'm sure he's making sweet music where he is, thanks for the posting,si lovely to see him.again,xx

Drifters British unit with the late Johnny Moore held up their legacy better.
My Nan had curtains just like that in the bathroom!
Nobody even came close to Johnny Moore.
Bill fredriks
Ignore the kit and the musical arrangements which lose the atmosphere. Songs are first class
shame the tempo is too fast . Why do they do that ?
Who designed those suits? Awful
Test
Great singers. But but but them clothes. They look like grannies curtains.
Great song, but terrible suites
