  • In the early 1900s, nearly every town in America had small machine shops that took thousands of ideas and inventions to the next level in producing and repairing the machinery and products that built the country. Before electric power became widespread, steam and water turned the wheels. This is a little adventure of mine into operating a small "job" machine shop on a daily basis using steam for power as it might have been in 1925.

Enjoy watching, My grandfather used to let me "Fix" the belts in his wood shop, and also crank the blower on the forge, and build the fire to heat the wagon wheel bands, to shrink the wheel together. 65 Years ago. I loved it ! You take me back. Thankyou.

Dave, watching this channel is better than going to a museum, getting to see history is one thing, but here we get to see it in action! I've always had a love for the old ways things were done. I remember when I was a youngster, being in my Dad's blacksmith shop and learning that trade was awesome!

My real name is Michael McCluskey. I love to see antique machinery still in operation. I always loved steam locomotives and glad to see many have been restored and brought back to life. The best one so far is the Union Pacific Big Boy. It was one of the largest steam locomotives ever built.

My first career, for about ten years was as an automotive mechanic. Watching you sometimes my hands feel what you're doing -- muscle memory kicks off and I miss it. That's been half my life ago.

Sure liked the intro looking right down the 'bore' of it all. It just keeps getting better and when you get the damper repaired on the saw it'll be just fine! Thanks, Dave!
