CUT SPRINGS TO LOWER TRUCK - DON'T DO THIS

  • In this video we show what you shouldn't do but we cut the springs of the dodge dakota rt to lower the front end of the truck. We wanted to see where we want the truck to sit to be level with the belltech rear hanger kit that we just installed on this pickup truck. Lowering a vehicle with cut springs is never a good idea but this is for entertainment purposes only and to get an idea of where we want the front end of the truck to sit.

    I put lowering blocks on the rear and cut my front springs. The ride is a little rough but it so much better looking and can handle curves without so much body roll. Great videos

    Saw a guy that custom made a two stage spring with some random prices of spring of different gauges and he said it’s the best handling car he’s put together (he was driving a 1997 rx7) it also lowered it by a full 2.9 inches looked sick

    I know this sounds crazy, but I am going to ask anyway. I have an 09 Ram 1500 with 22" wheels and 305/ 40 22's...I want to get the truck a little lower but I don't want to go with a 2"/4" drop because I still work out of the truck and haul stuff from time to time. My ideal lowering rate ( I think) would be a 1" / 2" or 3". I know it sound like a lot of work for that little of drop. I thought I would get your opinion on cutting the springs just for that amount and what you would do shock wise, stock shock or lowered shock? I'm not saying I am going to go through with it, just want some advice. Thanks.

  • @JDWard-Jeepster
    @JDWard-Jeepster Před rokem

    If you disconnect the lower ball joint there is no need to take apart all the brake hardware. You will have to slightly fight the weight of the brake hardware, spindle and upper control arm. This is easier to do with two people.

      It feels like stock to be honest but obviously less travel and you have to be more careful on big bumps since it can bottom but the ride feels like stock.

    If the dakotas have the same lower control arm as the 1500s you can get the lower control arms off of a b series van and itll lower it without cutting springs.

    • @chadpearsall7398
      @chadpearsall7398 Před 4 lety

      They already make tubular lower drop arms for dakotas. And no van arms eont fit

    • @deathunit1

      @@chadpearsall7398 ah see I dint know what will interchange between the dakotas and 1500s. I have a 1500 so all my research goes to that, and so far there isn't much information between the dakota and 1500 interchangeability.
