  • LOS ANGELES - UCLA Women's Basketball (4-0, 0-0) surged late to defeat Princeton (2-1, 0-0) on Friday, posting a three-point win over the Tigers. The Bruins outlasted Princeton in front of 6,243 fans on Field Trip Day behind a 13-point fourth quarter from graduate student Charisma Osborne.
Osborne finished the day with 21 points, tying Bruin alum Nirra Fields for sixth on UCLA's all-time scoring list (1,867 PTS). The shooting guard shot 7-for-9 from the charity stripe and grabbed three rebounds in the win.
UCLA outrebounded the Tigers 38-27, grabbing 14 offensive rebounds in the effort.
Sophomore center Lauren Betts proved dominant in her fourth game with the Bruins. Betts scored 22 points and collected 10 rebounds to record her third-consecutive double-double for the season. The Centennial, Colo., native shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the field; Betts is the first Bruin since Michelle Greco to score 20+ points on 1.000 FG% (Greco: 22 PTS, 7-7 FG vs. Arizona, 2/19/2000).
The center is also the first Pac-12 student-athlete to record a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double without a missed shot since Oregon's Nyara Sabally.
Sophomores Kiki Rice (13 PTS, 5-6 FT) and Gabriela Jaquez (11 PTS, 4-7 FG) rounded out the Bruins in double figures.
The Bruins struggled from distance, shooting 2-for-9 from the three-point line, but UCLA scored 42 points in the paint to capture Friday's win.
Betts got things started down low, scoring her first basket under the rim. Senior Angela Dugalic returned from her time at the EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers and got the start. The Serbian forward got a stop on her first possession defending the ball, then saved a ball from going out on an offensive board. Rice knocked down a step-back middy to beat the shot clock buzzer.
UCLA led 17-8 after the first frame.
Princeton heated up in the second and outscored UCLA 27-15. The Tigers shot a scorching 9-for-10 from the field (4-4 3FG) in the period. UCLA did not hit a three pointer in the first 20 minutes of the game. Jaquez was the only Bruin to score more than one basket in the period, shooting 2-for-5 (2-2 FT).
The Bruins found the groove in the third and assisted on seven of nine made baskets in the quarter. Betts scored nine of her 22 in the period.
UCLA and Princeton headed into the fourth quarter deadlocked at 56 points apiece. The final frame fell in favor of the Bruins, who would not go down without a fight. Osborne lit it up, scoring 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting (1-1 3FG) to lead the Bruins to victory. Rice added five points to help seal it late.

Glad to see Betts getting playing time this year. She looks way more confident it seems this year, if she can get a little more coordinated and grow into her height she can be a true threat in the pros.

Absolutely absurd that after this game Princeton did not make the AP top 25.

Why wont betts do a simple head fake down low instead of trying to force it all the time she still can make the shot and draw a foul

I hear you, I think she'll get with time... she just gets better and better each time you watch her.

I think it's weitd to hear so much crowd noise when there is no crowd. LA not into women's basketball these days.
