  • Join Bryan as he tests out some of the methods that he has learned from watching others on how to bring back that shiny new surface of our table saw, jointer and bandsaw! Bryan's got a sweating problem so this is some well overdue maintenance!

My ocd would not let me sleep at night. If my saw looked like that. Lol
    Amazing the difference that made.

Oh trust me it's been driving me crazy! I have just been afraid to take a sanding disc to the tabletop, but after watching so many people that I respect do it, I got up the nerve to do it!

Poor chicken! 🤣🤣 but I'm glad I came across this video. I've been eyeing an older table saw on marketplace and was wondering what all I'd need to get rid of rust ❤

Haha! I know I felt bad about using her for comic relief, but she seemed just fine afterwards! good luck with the table saw!

Now I agree with HOW you remove the rust however it will have to be cleaned off before cutting and wood to keep it from transferring to the material. I've had great success with a can of paste wax from Johnsons and buffing wheels added to your sander and After they are cleaned buy plastic drop cloth to ensure you don't have to keep repeating the process. Just my 2 cents and I had a metal roof on my old shop and it was in a humid area and I fought it for years

Excellent tip Tony! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm actually going to be redoing this old video this year. Now that my shop is climate controlled I'd like to do a really good job on it, so I hopefully don't have to do it for a bit. Thansk again for the tip!

Did the sander leave sanding scratches on the cast iron?

Great question. I did not notice any. As long as you go easy and start with 400 grit you should be fine in my experience. Thanks so much for watching!

Just use Evaporust to remove the rust. No rubbing. Then get it copper plated then Nickel electroplated.

Close enough for the girls I go with. Great video. I bought a table saw that was left out in a rain storm. Probably going to let WW40 soak for 5 weeks. 🤣

Oh man! I can only imagine. I think you will be surprised at how easily that rust comes off with a little TLC! Thanks for watching and commenting Hank!

    White vinegar

Do you use an orbital sander with the white vinegar

@@daveglennie8682 Yes, I'm curious too on that. I would think the white vinegar might cause it to tarnish. I do that with my clamps and don't mind the darker color but I don't think I would want it on my tablesaw. Thanks for watching again!

Try 400 grit Scotch Brite pads.

    WD40 can stain your woodwork.

The video is click bait. The picture on the video doesn’t match your tools.

The rust on the thumbnail is just a standard stock picture of rust that I was using as my background. Thanks for watching!
