  • In this video I test if music can make you play better golf. I try shots with and without listening to music, ,and compares how it feels and tries to see if it will help my game or not. Many of the pro golfers practice while listening to music, so I wanted to fint out how it feels, and if music could help my golf game.

I listen to hip hop beats when I play. The music is training you to chill out and focus when it counts. it teaches you not to think and to just act on instinct.

I heard some people have used metronomes for swing tempo!!

Interesting. I can see how it can help for tempo.

Playing music during play is clearly an artificial aid used by some players as a nerve calming method and, as such, is clearly banned by the rules of golf during competition, though some don’t seem to understand this. Otherwise, music should only be played into earbuds so that other players are not forced to hear it as most golfers prefer the natural peace and quiet of the golf course. Players who play music otherwise, such as using speakers, are being quite quite rude and very selfish while forcing their preferences on players who do not want to hear it! No problem, of course listening to music while practicing or playing non-competitively when using earbuds or the like.

Good point about the rules. I have never in 17 years heard music on the course, so here in Norway people seem to follow the old etiquette rules.

However, maybe you’re looking at it wrong.
Who cares if you hit shit shots on the practice fairway.
If it makes you play better on the comp game, it’s done its job.
Perhaps the music is training you to be able to play through distractions, so when you play without music later, you’ll not get distracted by the bird call or people talking (not that people talk during your shot - that would never happen)

That is a great way to look at it, it was very interesting to see that my two swings compared looked almost the same even though I felt my timing with music was off. It might be a great way to practice for some people.
