    Partially based upon your review "hilariously fast" I bought the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H 40mm. And I can say I love them, even after hundreds and hundreds of kilometers riding on broken asphalt, brick roads, easy gravel, mid-gravel, single tracks. all here in the Netherlands (where there are no hills). Never a puncture, still very fast, very little wear, still the auto correcting, awesome with storms from side and bumpy roads, it keeps me straight. Possibly preventing me with a crash when on a bump at the moment I was distracted. The opposite of a nimble tire, but works amazingly good for me. I highly recommend when you ride on hard surface

    You are 100% my go to for gravel tire reviews. Because of you, specifically, the gravel H in 700 X 45 is my favorite tire of all time. And I just ordered the gravel M based on your review for an upcoming off-road triathlon through Xterra that is gravel bike course

      I have the RC and used them on multiple bike packing trips, lots of road use, lots of gravel riding and even mountain riding.
      I'm in Scotland where it can get very hilly and in my experience the Gravel RC has been a fantastic all round tyre. I wouldn't knock them until you try them 😄

    • @efraer
      @efraer Před 9 měsíci +4

      I've been using a Pirelli H/M combination setup for a while - local riding and races/events - and it's excellent. On hard surfaces, they roll really well. When it's loose, the front is grippy and predictable. Other tires (Challenge Getaway, IRC Doublecross, Specialzed Pathfinder) I've found to be vague on the initiation of a turn, and I end up being slow and cautious. The Pirelli M is precise and confidence-inspiring.

  • @allenvugrincic3356

    I have these in 40 set up with cushcore. I havn’t ridden in dry dusty conditions, but 2 races in Northern CA. High level competive racing. Switch back asphalt descents, into wet mud level 2,3,4 gravel, more mud, single track, potholes, these tires performed very well. Better than expected, and are rocket fast @ 35 psi and grip clear mud excellent. So in these conditions I have to disagree with your review.

      While the TufoThunderos in 700x44 are faster and more comfortable to ride over bumps and washboards on dirt roads, they don't have nearly as much grip as Pirellis Mix Terrains. Even so, the Tufo Thunderos are fantastic, and I'd love to hear James' opinion about them.

      I'm now about six months in on my thunderos. definitely quick , pretty grippy and quite supple too. Maybe too supple for me actually- have found them a little sensitive to air pressures and also reasonably flat prone in city conditions. They have ahabit of picking up little pieces of glass and holding them in- stopping sealant from plugging.
      I like them a lot but I'm not fully sold- maybe I need a damper carcass.

    I was also looking forward to the RC when they were announced. One of my upcoming races is 50% hardpack, 20% road, 20% bumpy farm roads, and 10% deep, sloppy mud.
